Producer (Short Form)

London

Zinc produces hundreds of high-impact short videos for our clients and partners each year, all dedicated to creating positive social change, and often reaching audiences of millions around the world via social networks.

As a freelance Producer for us, you will be responsible for making finely crafted videos that perform well on the news feed. Based in London, and working to our Director of Content, you will devise, script, produce (via remote crews) and edit produce a number of short films simultaneously, taking them from start to finish.

As the production lead on your projects, you will oversee scheduling and ensure that all production milestones are hit, and all assets delivered on time. You will take responsibility for driving your projects forward, working with our accounts team, digital team and project management team to ensure the smooth delivery of the project. You do not need any shooting or directing skills as this is an office-based role. The role does not require any foreign languages.

You will be able to identify the most effective hooks for a story and suggest creative and entertaining treatments to appeal to a wide audience. You will know how to find great archive, including footage that helps explain relatively obscure global issues, and you will have experience of working with motion graphics and animation.

Ideally you will combine a journalistic sensibility with an understanding of how to create compelling, entertaining and must-watch content. You will have significant experience in the edit, and will be great at writing clear, attention-grabbing scripts. You will be a master of conveying complex information in a simple and concise manner.

You are expected to:
* Work with our partners and clients to devise content ideas in line with their needs
* Take complex reports and identify the most compelling angles for our audiences
* Write engaging scripts that convey complex information in a simple and clear manner (NB sometimes you will be working with a scriptwriter)
* Suggest ideas for graphics
* Commission filmmakers abroad and oversee them remotely
* Take ownership of schedules for your projects
* Ensure assets are delivered to a high quality and on time
* Edit produce a number of short videos simultaneously
* Ensure all edit scripts and other paperwork are kept up to date
* Work in a number of unfamiliar languages
* Ensure attention to detail in presentation of written work.
* Ensure scripts are accurate, rigorous, fact checked, and strategically appropriate for the needs of our clients and partners.
* You may be asked to participate in internal and client reviews, communicating creative vision and proposals effectively.
* Take feedback well and be prepared to revise your scripts and edits in order to meet the needs of our clients, partners and internal stakeholders.

Requirements
* Understanding of YouTube and other social media platforms
* Several edit producer credits
* Experience of current affairs / news / features / other journalistic production
* Experience of archive research and motion graphics
* Extensive experience of scripting
* Excellent communication skills
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Fantastic and meticulous attention to detail
* Positive and flexible 'can-do' attitude and willingness to solve problems
* Ability to get on well with the team
* Understanding - and ideally experience - of short-form social video production
