ITV News is looking for a producer to lead their Scotland coverage on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.The Scotland Producer will be based in Scotland and will work closely with the newsgathering team to produce all aspects of coverage across Scotland. The successful candidate will have a detailed knowledge of Scotland, experience of covering big stories, a passion for covering breaking news and a hunger to drive exclusive journalism. The job requires someone who works well as part of a team, enjoys working on the road and can cover a broad range of stories.Key Responsibilities To work on producing distinctive and high quality news packagesDrive and shape Scotland coverage for ITV News programmes and digital platforms - researching and producing from initial idea through to broadcastOversee planning of all aspects of coverage in ScotlandPursue stories and angles to produce exclusive content for ITV News platformsTo drive and champion stories about Scotland on a daily basis, spotting stories and trends whilst delivering exclusive and distinctive content To work closely with the Scotland correspondent and reporter to break exclusive lines and produce creative content across all ITV News Programmes, online and social media Work on location to find the best angles/elements for ITV News coverage To write scripts and produce graphics when required To ensure location material is delivered safely and in good time for transmission To run an efficient forward planning diary and work closely with the News Editor for Nations and Regions, Head of Home News and Home Planning team to best deliver all content Research stories for the best elements, lines, and angles Commission interviews and picture sequences Research, select, and edit archive material Ensure that all work is within the various legal and regulatory frameworks applicable to all newsTo work with other reporters in other parts of the UK and abroad when requiredKey Requirements Good knowledge of Scottish politics and social affairs is essentialTrack record of coming up with original story ideas and delivering them to airExperience of building and working contactsKnowledge of RPA and media law are a basic requirementExcellent organisational and communication skillsGood understanding of the ITV News agenda and its audience on TV and online A proven ability to use social and digital media to drive stories and content High level of technical ability in editing and production of Graphics Sound research skills Confidence to travel at short notice, and operate unsupervised away from base Concise writing style with flair, accuracy, and focus Rich pool of ideas for stories, angles, and treatmentsGood communicator and team player, with a positive attitude Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and ITN compliance Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making A solid understanding of television production and newsgathering techniques Tenacity, attention to detail, organisation, enthusiasm and energy
