Producer (Middle East)

Oxfordshire

Mongoose Pictures is looking for a Producer to work on documentaries produced for the American TV series FRONTLINE and other various platforms in the UK. The candidate will work closely with Mongoose and Frontline executives to produce unscripted content to the highest production value and editorial quality.

Primary responsibilities for the producer include, but are not limited to:
• Pitching and developing long form stories that are journalistically sound and newsworthy.
• Developing program concepts and pre-production planning.
• Leading the research and pre-production process on any given story including travel to Middle East.
• Producer will be charged with all production logistics, from retaining fixers, to working on security protocol, to gaining access to interview subjects and interested parties.
• Overseeing stories in the post production stage. The Producer will review all versions of film cuts and scripts and will provide notes to senior editorial staff.
• Fact check stories and provide detailed annotated scripts.
• Work and communicate notes to senior editorial staff at Mongoose and FRONTLINE on a regular basis.

Requirements:
• A Masters degree in journalism.
• Extensive experience in documentary film-making.
• Experience in working on long form projects and keeping up with constant changes in the news cycle
• Prior experience working and field producing in the Middle East, (including but not limited to Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Syria)
• Prior experience working and producing stories in the United States.
• Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills in English and Arabic.
• Communicating effectively with colleagues across multiple time zones and continents and an ability to thrive in an environment with teamwork.
• Strong knowledge of production logistics and workflow, industry technology, rights issues, and current industry standard practices, particularly in the US market.
• Experience in the edit and post production stage of documentary filmmaking.
• Experience in archival research as well as archival licensing process.
• Experience in fact checking films to make them journalistically sound.
• Ability to shoot video in unscripted settings including knowledge of C100 and C300 cameras.
