Cinek is looking for a producer to help develop their award-winning short film 'Daughter' into a feature 'Daughter' is the story of Jameela, a 16-year-old British Pakistani girl from Yorkshire, running away from home and finding her purpose. This is an empowering, entertaining coming-of-age story where Jameela must come to terms with the broken family she has left behind, whilst reinventing herself as an amateur boxer.• We have a our ATL team already in place - but we are looking for an additional producer• Director is Christian Kinde (www.cinek.co.uk), Writer is Aisha Zia (www.georginacapel.com/our- authors/aisha-zia/), Producers are Joel Maguet (who produced the short) and independent film veteran Julia Verdin (www.imdb.com/name/nm0893845/) who has produced over 40 features• Our target is to complete funding and shoot in Summer 2021 with a Spring 2022 release• We have a detailed treatment, script breakdown and sales deck. A first draft script is being written now• We have key personnel and department heads attached to the projectThe RoleDespite already having a solid producing team, we are looking for an additional producer to focus on fundraising, commercial development and distribution whilst we focus on creative development, production and logistics.Once the funding is in place, the producer will receive a flat fee (subject to negotiation) and a commensurate share of any profits.Essentials are:• Experience and success in fundraising for independent features• Experience in applying for grants and schemes• A black book of EPs and production companies to pitch to• Commercially-minded and a team player, willing to collaborate with the wider team• At least two feature film credits• Based in BritainThe Short Film• In the summer of 2017 we raised £22,000 to fund the short, designed to be a proof of concept for the feature film. Gizmo Films (Funny Cow, Mad to be Normal) joined as Executive Producers• In the summer of 2018 the film was shot on location in South and East Yorkshire. Amita Suman played the lead role of Lilah. Amita can now be seen in a lead role in Shadow and Bone, a major new series by Netflix• Post production was completed in early 2019 and the film screened at The Hospital Club as part of their Emerging Talent scheme• The film is now creating a buzz on the festival circuit and has been selected at Underwire (BAFTA qualifying), Bolton (Winner, Best Film amongst 1500 entries), Kinofilm, Dublin, Margate, Derby and Crystal Palace (nominated), Manchester Lift-Off and Stockholm (nominated)If you are interested in discussing this role further, please get in touch.
