We are looking for a highly talented programme maker to become a Producer on Jeremy Vine, the two-hour flagship daytime topical discussion programme on Channel 5. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of daytime debate shows, first class journalism and production skills, and the ability to work under pressure. They should be full of ideas for debates and guests, as well as having the production flair to make sure their shows are engaging and entertaining. We want to be plugged into what people are talking about every day to make sure the programme is lively, relevant and having the right conversations. We are looking for this new team member to start as soon as possible and are actively seeking candidates from diverse backgrounds. We are offering a two-year fixed term contract to start in January.ResponsibilitiesTaking ownership and overseeing all elements of production for a two-hour live debate showComing up with ideas for debates, writing scripts, commissioning pictures and graphics, and taking charge of all elements of productionBriefing presenters and guestsManaging a team of assistant producers and researchersOutputting the programmeMaking decisions on legal issues, and taste and decency, in accordance with Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manualManaging the rundownPutting callers on air This Job Description identifies the main requirements of the role.
