This is an exciting new role in the ITV News Team. ITV News is hiring a Producer based in Leeds. This is a permanent role reporting to the News Editor, Nations and Regions. This role will include day to day newsgathering and planning tasks working to the News Editor or to Senior UK Bureau Producers as required. The role will also include working across all ITV News Output on TV, on ITVX and on Social and Digital using Production knowledge and skills. The producer will often work in the field but may be asked to work from an ITV office or from home assisting with reports being produced in GIR or elsewhere. This role involves travel and driving and a so a full UK driving license is a necessity. The role will involve some self-shooting using a camera or iPhone. The ability to self shoot is desirable, but training will also be given.

Key Responsibilities
Assist the News Editor, Nations and Regions and Senior Producers as required
Assist Content Editors and DCEs with newsgathering and output tasks as required
Fulfilling the role of Desk Producer in the field - for both planned and breaking news stories. Example tasks include gathering sequences and interviews, producing on location, researching case studies. These tasks may be working with a camera operator or may involve self-shooting
Assisting in the production of TV News bulletins
Taking ownership of items including packages, live reports and graphics
Researching and selecting archive
Sourcing and logging video and stills
Selecting video and soundbites to be edited for headlines and news-belts and for use in packages and lives
Make informed legal and health and safety judgementsConduct dynamic risk assessments before assigning resources

A strong understanding of ITV News platforms and which type of content works well on them
Excellent journalistic judgement and knowledge of news and current affairs, especially in the north of England
Some experience in planning stories, and in working in the field with a camera operator
A good understanding of how to construct a Video news package
A basic understanding of graphics and how to write them
Strong technical skills, An ability to video edit is desirable as is an ability to self shoot on a small camera or Iphone
A commitment to creating news coverage that reflects the diversity of Britain's communities
Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations, the ITN compliance manual and legal requirements and health and safety requirements
