Whisper are inviting applications from experienced Producers to help lead our Formula One Production Team based in Cardiff, Wales.

Whisper is a leading global production company, specialising in sports, unscripted and branded entertainment.

Our diverse team of over 270 work in offices across the UK and beyond, producing sports such as Formula One, UEFA and The Paralympics, as well as branded content, prime-time documentaries and entertainment quiz shows for a raft of broadcasters.

In 2023 Whisper won a BAFTA and was nominated for an International EMMY.

It's co-owned by Sony Pictures Television and is a seven-times Broadcast Best Places to Work.

This role is to work predominantly on our Formula One coverage, helping lead a production team to deliver highlights of qualifying and races over 23 race weekends and live coverage of the British Grand Prix.

The ideal candidate would have a keen interest in motorsport, and a knowledge of how race weekends work from a broadcast perspective.

Experience as a live programme gallery producer is required, and experience of working with on-screen presentation teams to build an identity and rapport.

Knowledge of remote production workflows would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate would have experience of pre-planning and delivery of live TV Sport, and a deep understanding of how production teams need to be organised to deliver programming throughout a long season.

The successful candidate will work with an executive producer, a senior Producer, and help develop a new junior team, including junior production manager, production coordinator, assistant producer, junior media operations engineer and editor to ensure that Whisper's Formula One coverage has the highest possible production values.

Key Responsibilities:

Work in a leadership role to help plan season-long live coverage of Formula One
Work with and help develop a relatively junior team
Gallery producing coverage alongide a senior producer on site including build-up and post race analysis
Working on site with talent, developing running order and scripts
Working with and maintaining strong relationships with the Formula One teams
Develop and deliver other creative concepts
Working in the edit to produce VTs
Be a responsible member of the team, with an appreciation of the end-to-end production of the show
Ensure all content is of a first-class standard, thoroughly researched and factually correct
Work effectively with other departments, clients, and partners (both internal and external), maintaining Whisper's excellent relationships and communication
Ensure that the output complies with Whisper's editorial, technical, design and accessibility standards, whilst always working to the company's Health and Safety policy.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

A broad knowledge and passion for motorsport
Proven experience gallery producing busy, informative, and entertaining live sport build ups
Desirable: Experience leading a small production team delivering season-long programming.
Experience of writing running orders and an understanding of the requirement for accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to write clear and concise scripts
Experience producing an on screen presentation team, and developing relationships across a season to create the best programming.
Ability to spot a good story, devise and develop strong creative ideas
Understanding of the edit process and the ability to drive standards and deliver feedback.
Strong knowledge of Whisper's editorial guidelines and compliance policies, or a willingness to establish this quickly
Experience with complex workloads, consistently prioritising and delivering to deadlines, reacting positively to changes and conflicts
Strong communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills
A demonstrable level of creativity with the ability to bring a fresh new approach to creating engaging and evolving output

Working Days:
This is a 4:1 position, 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home in non-race weeks.
The role will include weekend working and hours to meet the needs of the production, according to the Formula One calendar and time zones of races, as well as days in race weeks at the Cardiff Broadcast Centre
Lieu days will be given for any days worked over a five-day week
Whisper offer the option of flexitime hours subject to production requirements.
