Producer (Welsh speaking)

Cardiff

ITV Cymru Wales is looking for an ambitious producer to join its Welsh Language Programmes team.

This role is an exciting and rare opportunity for an experienced journalist to showcase their producing skills, working across our current affairs output for S4C (Y Byd ar Bedwar & Y Byd yn ei Le).

From producing hard-hitting investigations to reporting on some of the World's biggest stories for Y Byd ar Bedwar, this role is perfect for a creative storyteller who strives to explore stories that set the news agenda.

With extensive contacts across Wales you will have an excellent understanding and track record of producing current affairs in Wales. And you'll have your finger firmly on the pulse of Welsh politics, with a deep understanding of the political landscape and systems in Wales.

You will have a strong understanding of compliance and broadcast guidelines and the ability to work independently under challenging circumstances.

Ideally you will have strong camera and editing skills and/or experience of directing and leading production teams. Depending on experience, you might be asked to undertake some line manager duties.

Skills you'll need
? Fluency in Welsh language (both spoken and written)
? Proven track record in journalistic originality and creativity
? Excellent compliance knowledge
? Great understanding of digital platforms with ideas on how to attract new audiences to our content

Other things we're looking for
? Self-shooting camera skills and editing experience are desirable
? The ability to use diverse and varied contacts to generate original stories ? Good communication and leadership skills to manage less experienced team members.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is at the heart of what we do at ITV Cymru Wales and we want to ensure we reflect our audience both on screen and in our workforce. ITV is for Everyone and we encourage applications from Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent people and People of Colour to apply for this role.

Newsrooms are busy and pressurised environments, involving live news production, which often requires colleagues to make quick decisions under pressure. We also need people who are able to use their initiative and, particularly for editorial roles, know what information might be required and how to research it.

We need to test these abilities at the interview stage to understand how candidates will react when operating in a pressurised environment. This is a fundamental requirement of the role. We will always consider any request for reasonable adjustments as part of the interview process, for example sharing key themes when that is requested in connection with a neurodivergent condition, whilst still ensuring that we are able to test a candidate's ability to operate in the specific environment of a newsroom.

At ITV, we appreciate the use of technology for research during the application process. We understand that AI tools, including ChatGPT, can be valuable resources. However, we value authenticity and expect applicants to showcase their own thoughts and experiences.

Applications that appear to be directly copied from AI-generated content may be subject to rejection. We believe in a fair and authentic assessment process, and your individuality is key to standing out in our selection.
