Post Production Supervisor

London

Cactus Studios, a busy production and post production base is seeking a creative and technically able Post Production Supervisor.

The role will principally involve the technical management of four Premiere Pro edit suites (plus pop ups) and related viewing facilities, as well as handling file-based deliveries to UK broadcasters. It will include monitoring use of facilities, ensuring good housekeeping on storage units to facilitate smooth running of edit facility.

A good working knowledge of the following would be useful: edit servers, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Adobe design apps, such as: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as well as VidCheck, Content Browser and archiving practices.

An understanding of editing techniques, both for sound and picture is essential. This may entail play-in or VT edits, as well as cutting tasters and social media clips and the ability to prep material for eyeballing, as well as to tech review and deliver programmes to broadcasters, ensuring they correspond to DPP or other relevant specifications, making any repairs as needed, (normalising audio levels, sync, checking for black holes), applying metadata, and ensuring clocks are in place and all deliverables produced.

This will also require managing the secure ingest, transfer and storage of all rushes across shared platforms. This includes material from location as well as studio shoots and user generated content.

Responsibilities will also bridge the archiving of all rushes and delivered programmes securely, arranging appropriate access so that material can be retrieved, whether in the edit suites or on drives.

Another aspect of the role is using the Adobe suite of design apps to create a variety of artwork and props: anything from on-screen GFX; designing a logo, invite or poster to an event display or devising layouts for a pitch document. This may also involve sending designs out of house to be made up as printable media for sets, props or promotion.

Attendance at location may be needed at points to set up edits.

Within the office, the person in this role forges a link to IT support company, monitoring PC use and updates, cabling issues, internal hardware kit, admin users for applications, facilitating WeTransfer links and uploads

A technologically flexible mind-set would be helpful in dealing with any bespoke company practices and the diverse nature of the role.

The ideal candidate will have a background in technical post-production an eye for creative design, and a solid understanding of workflows and DPP deliverables as well as a good sense of humour when working under pressure.
