The Economist is looking for a podcast-video producer/editor to join our award-winning editorial video department. Working closely with our podcast team, you will be responsible for filming, editing and producing compelling and insightful podcast videos, aimed at 1.2m subscribers on our core app and website, as well as our 65m followers on social media. Our podcast videos range from correspondent analysis with our world-leading journalists to in-depth interviews with experts.We are looking for a talented, passionate and experienced producer/editor to join our busy and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have worked in journalism and have demonstrable experience of filming and editing short, vertical content, as well as an understanding of The Economist, its editorial content and its core values. They will have experience in producing and promoting podcasts. They will be skilled in the full production lifecycle of a short video podcast, from origination of ideas through to post-production and delivery, and will take responsibility and pride for the complete delivery of their content.The podcast-video producer/editor will seek opportunities to promote our journalism in innovative ways. They will use video to reach new audiences and increase engagement among our existing subscribers. And they will play a key role in the roll-out of our strategy for video, across both our own digital products and third-party platforms.ResponsibilitiesWork with The Economist's podcast team, video team and print journalists to conceive and plan video content to promote our podcastsProduce, shoot and edit-including post-production-compelling podcast-video content for digital and social-media platformsDevise new and innovative formats for podcast videosRequirementsKnowledge of Premiere Pro (other editing software is also advantageous)Demonstrable experience of creating digital videos, ideally in vertical and ideally of podcastsCreative mind and strong storytelling skillsPassion for social media and short-form content creationKnowledge of, and experience in, podcasting and the latest industry trends Awareness of new digital platformsKnowledge of The Economist's brand and its digital content Experience of journalistic rigour in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work to tight deadlines, respond promptly to feedback and balance the demands of a variety of stakeholdersAn ability to work at speed and deliver under pressure, while juggling multiple projects and maintaining strong attention to detailAn understanding of legal and commercial regulations
