Payroll & HR Officer

Bristol hybrid / Remote REMOTE

As a growing company, Studio Silverback seeks a new team member to handle payroll and HR administration. This established role is currently managed by one person for both Silverback Films and Studio Silverback, but the volume has become too great across both companies, so we are now looking to recruit for this role exclusively for Studio Silverback.

We use an external payroll bureau but are looking for someone who can manage the administration of the payroll and HR and also follow this through to the accounting aspects of posting payroll, raising intercompany recharges, and reconciling intercompany accounts. This is a varied role and will suit someone with all-round experience who can work both independently and collaboratively, and has an admin and payroll background, strong with excel and understands double entry bookkeeping.

This is a full-time role, but we may consider a flexible/ four-day week for the right candidate, provided it aligns with the monthly payroll cycle.

Supporting around 60 staff currently, but expanding (two PAYE schemes) and reporting to Head of Production, responsibilities will include:

Payroll and Finance
• Collate, input and prepare monthly payroll for processing by external payroll bureau;
• Update and maintain accurate employee details via online portal;
• Administer the company benefit schemes including cycle to work, pension contributions and helping to implement any new schemes;
• Upload and post payroll report into accounting system;
• Prepare payroll recharge journals to each production;
• Create intercompany and intergroup production recharge invoices; and
• Reconcile intercompany accounts.

HR
• Issue contracts of employment and new starter documentation;
• Raise and issue documentation in relation to employees - i.e. changes to T&C's, side extension letters, salary sacrifice, pay increase letters etc.;
• Keep the HR database and contract database up to date with new starters, movers, leavers and changes to terms and conditions and regularly chase outstanding signed documents;
• Process new starters with full induction including H&S training and 'right to work' checks and address any related queries;
• Coordinate leaver process namely returning company property and restricting IT access;
• Administration of staff annual leave using Timetastic;
• Manage GDPR registrations/renewals for all productions;
• Maintain/update Team section of company website, company policies, procedures and company Handbook.

The successful candidate will need to add value to an intimate and fast evolving team, demonstrating;
• Basic payroll and HR knowledge and experience required;
• Strong IT skills, including experience of accounting software (ideally including PMI);
• An ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise workload and multitask;
• Understanding of raising invoices/posting journals;
• Knowledge of group/intercompany recharges preferrable;

The above list of duties is not exhaustive, and the Company may reasonably vary the responsibilities of the role from time to time.
