London

Job Description:

Financial News' online news editor works in the team charged with commissioning, editing and promotion of daily content across all of FN's digital channels and social media accounts. We are looking for a part-time online editor to help the online editor.

The Online News Editor will help reporters break stories on, and produce compelling analysis of, the UK's investment banking, asset management and trading industries.

A strong working knowledge of the biggest institutions and personalities in each is desired, as in an understanding of the main regulations and themes affecting those doing business in the City - whether this is the drive to improve diversity or efforts to stamp out malpractice.

The Online News Editor works closely with FN's team of sector correspondents to deliver timely and accurate content that is sourced and written in accordance with the robust editorial standards of Barron's Group - the ability to take the initiative and drive editorial direction is essential.

Alongside the News Editor and the Deputy News Editor, the Online News Editor is the gatekeeper to fnlondon.com , FN's website that showcases our latest news, analysis and commentary. The site is updated throughout the day and the Online News Editor is charged with writing enticing, SEO-friendly headlines and standfirsts and sourcing appropriate imagery.

FN's daily emails and News Alerts are subscribers' main window into our daily coverage. Alongside the News Editor and the Deputy News Editor, the Online News Editor and their team take charge of building and sending these emails, taking relevant coverage from sister publications - Barron's, MarketWatch and WSJ - where necessary to ensure readers receive the most complete picture of the stories affecting their sector on any given day.

This will be a part-time role, starting at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, working from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Thursday and 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday.

The role reports to the Editor of Financial News.
