We are looking for a talented content editor to join Classic FM and Smooth Radio's online teams, with the aim of championing all aspects of both stations' broadcast output on their respective websites.

You will play an essential role in ensuring Classic FM and Smooth Radio's industry-leading digital coverage reflects and supports on-air activity, while providing an essential bridge between the online and on-air teams. To do so, you'll be a quick and confident writer, able to assimilate two distinct brand tones and, ideally, have experience of image manipulation and video.

This role requires someone who is comfortable working with a variety of different personalities and managing key relationships.

Reporting to:

Managing Editor, Online (Classic FM)

Responsibilities

• Work with Classic FM and Smooth Radio digital editorial teams to develop content, from initial ideas to publication and promotion, using brand-appropriate tones-of-voice

• Monitor daily trends, social media and news feeds to ensure content is topical and timely

• Liaise with producers, presenters and digital content editors to plan and execute digital-focused radio content that engages both listeners and online users

• Work with Global's Showbiz team to organize celebrity guests for online videos and interviews with Smooth presenters

• Drive traffic to all areas of station websites, with particular focus on tie-ins with our most popular shows, station events and promotions

• Ensure on-air priorities are reflected in online content

• Schedule social media posts for radio shows

• Create and update features and show pages for radio programmes, and curate radio index pages on ClassicFM.com and Smoothradio.com

• Update Classic FM and Smooth Radio playlists through the Electronic Programme Guide

• Manage online implementation of commercial programming briefs

• Execute the Global Player app download strategy

• Evaluate all the above activities through various analytics tools to report back to the editorial teams, and make recommendations for future activity

Your experience & skills



• At least two-years' experience working in a similar content editing or content producing role

• Engaging writing with adaptable tone of voice

• Accurate sub-editing skills

• An eye for, and ability in, researching and breaking news

• A solid understanding of SEO and SMO principles

• Extensive experience of online content management systems and analytics tools

• A working knowledge of social, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

• Intermediate PhotoShop and video editing skills

• Prior experience of working in a radio environment and some knowledge of radio production would be advantageous

• A demonstrable knowledge of classical music and the Smooth playlist would also be looked upon favourably
