Multimedia Producer (Shorts)

London

To work across Channel 4 News digital platforms with a focus on scripting, producing and editing high-quality social content for Channel 4's news and current affairs documentaries including, Dispatches, Unreported World, and Untold.

To also work across Channel 4 News digital first platforms for both on the day news and longer projects, producing high impact content - both short and long form, across a range of Channel 4 News editorial output.

To produce high-quality video journalism using Premiere and Adobe creative suite. To secure maximum impact for Channel 4 News' digital and television material online and have an active and enthusiastic role in continuing to grow the reach and the quality of Channel 4 News. This role will include shift work and weekend work, and may include some travel.
Key Responsibilities
Work across Channel 4 News digital platforms - with a focus on producing exclusive and news-making content that engages our key demographic and reach the largest audience possible
To write scripts from complex documentaries that work for short form platforms and use editorial judgement to develop interesting narratives for digital videos - securing millions of views for our content in the digital world
To edit digital videos to the highest standards of production. To script these videos in a clear, concise and punchy manner
To ensure all deadlines for digital edits and cut downs of time sensitive documentaries are met according to contractual obligations
Be across the daily news agenda and work across breaking news
Perform a mix of day, late and weekend shifts combined with work on special projects
Generate ideas and bring in distinctive, exclusive stories that meet the high editorial standards of Channel 4 News, pitched at a digital first audience across platforms
Platform agnostic approach to stories - able to pitch stories for all platforms including occasionally working with the TV team.
Maintain the highest standards of spelling, punctuation, and grammar
Provide imaginative treatments for complex stories and present complex ideas simply and in a compelling manner
Ensure stories are accurate and comply with the law and relevant regulations
Work in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety in the office and in the field
Work on wider Channel 4 News digital output, with the programme news-desk or other programme teams if required. · Occasionally work in the field, at home and abroad, during breaking news

Key Requirements
A digital native who works to the highest editorial standards
Strong organisational skills and ability to adapt to changing timetables
Ability to work and communicate effectively and professionally with external companies e.g. production companies
A proven track record of producing agenda setting journalism across digital platforms
2+ years of experience in a broadcast newsroom, newspaper, current affairs programme or agency
Some basic camera skills
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere or editing software is required.
Expert understanding and knowledge of social media and experience working across a wide variety of platforms
Strong team-working skills
Strong digital news judgement - with a knowledge of what will play well on social and how to make it
High quality news judgement, editorial creativity and imagination
Ability to work autonomously and under own initiative
Flair for expressing stories visually and an excellent writing ability, especially with longer for or narrative-driven text and multi-media content
Highly developed understanding of complex legal situations and understanding of ITN Legal Compliance procedures
Understanding of Channel 4 News agenda
Calm under pressure with the ability to adapt and be flexible in task and role
Ability to work to strict deadline in a time-pressured environment
Act with responsibility and common sense in the field and office, in compliance with ITN's Health and Safety Policies
