Multi Media Producer

London

We're looking for a brilliant multi-media journalist to join our team. This role will work across ITV News digital platforms and concentrate on producing high-quality written content on the biggest news stories. You will also secure maximum impact for ITV News' television material online - selling it as effectively as possible. The successful candidate will write a range of news stories and features, produce some video and be full of ideas for coverage. This role operates on a shift basis, including weekends.

Responsibilities

Produce text and video content for all ITV News digital platforms, working on multiple stories every day
Create clean and engaging written content based on original journalism from ITV News correspondents and repurposing wire copy and agency material for our audience

Produce captioned video for the website and social media platforms using ITV News material and agency footage

Be full of ideas every day for story ideas and original takes on the day's news agenda, talking points and issues

Write punchy and compelling headlines and thumbnails for social media and the website, understanding the role of search engine optimisation

Work across a wide range of home and foreign news stories of varying complexity and create content on those stories in a variety of formats, including breaking news and explainers

Demonstrate distinctive judgement about digital storytelling - with confidence about what elements will resonate with an online audience and what will perform on different platforms

Ensure stories are accurate, comply with the law and relevant regulations

If required, shoot and edit original video content• On occasion, be involved in the production of original series and podcasts recorded in the ITV News digital studio

On occasion, run the digital news desk

This role operates on a shift basis, rotating between early, day, late and weekend shifts

Qualifications
Experience of AVID Newscutter, Adobe Premiere, plus other media technology to produce high quality
At least one year's experience of working in a busy newsroom, ideally creating digital content
Ability to produce video and clean and accurate copy under pressure and to a deadline
Ability to thrive in a busy newsroom where on working on multiple stories and regular deadlines every day is the norm
Experience using Avid Newscutter and Adobe Premiere to clip up video and create captioned videos
Possess scrupulous attention to detail and have the highest standards of spelling, grammar and accuracy when creating content, especially around complex and controversial material
Experience of writing for and posting online content via a content management system
Flair for original ideas in both written and video form
Proficiency in both shooting and editing video content desired
In-depth knowledge of news and current affairs, with the ability to take on a range of UK and international stories and present them clearly for our audience
Strong digital news judgement - with a knowledge of what will play well on social
Expert knowledge of social media, working across a wide variety of platforms including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram - and understanding the differences between them
Understanding of search engine optimisation
Technical adaptability and flexibility
Ability to work autonomously and under initiative
Ability to adapt and be flexible in task and role, sometimes at short notice
Positive attitude and the ability to work well with colleagues across teams in the newsroom
Play an authoritative role in team editorial meetings presenting ideas in a persuasive manner
Highly developed understanding of complex legal situations and understanding of ITN Legal Compliance procedures and Ofcom Broadcasting Code
Understanding of the ITV News agenda
Act with responsibility and common sense in the field and office, in compliance with ITN's
