Business overview per Business Area:
In order to support our busy Location Department, we regularly offer short-term and long-term contracts to cover the position of Location Assistant and also that of Unit Manager. We are facing a busy summer schedule and if you have Locations experience and would like to work on Emmerdale, then we would love to hear from you.

You will already have experience of working in a Locations capacity and will be able to demonstrate a proven credits list of productions in the TV industry that you have worked on.

Location Assistant:
This role entails...
This role involves supporting the Locations team in helping set up a Unit and ensuring the smooth-running of the shooting day with regards to locations. We have multiple units shooting simultaneously, so you will need to be flexible and adaptable with the ability to help us run more than one Unit at a time - you may start the day on one location and end the day on another, so there is a great deal of variety and adaptability within this role. You will need to be on location before any crew/vehicles arrive and be prepared to be the last to leave.


Key Responsibilities:
To cover the Unit on location for the full duration of the shoot, assisting on set and informing 1st AD if required to leave the set.
The Unit Manager may or may not be present for the full shooting day, in which case you would need to be able to carry out all associated duties with the role, remaining on set and informing the 1st AD if you have to leave set.
Develop the skills and ability to cover the role of the Unit Manager, including all associated administration duties.
Taking instructions from the Unit Manager and applying these to the daily running of the location shoot.
Guiding in vehicles to the correct position.
Laying floor protection; setting up refreshment stations; bins; smoking poles etc. prior to the start of the shoot.

What do I need to get this role/job?
Minimum criteria
Confident driver and in possession of a valid UK driving licence.
Production Safety Awareness- experience working to health and safety regulations.
Experience of working in a Locations role on a television drama; other relevant roles within TV production will be considered.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working under pressure and to tight production deadlines, taking a creative approach to problem solving.
Flexible approach to work and working hours, due to the variable nature of production schedules.
Experience dealing sensitively with situations and matters of confidentiality.

Key Criteria:
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to take a variety of approaches when dealing with issues and problems.
A strong team player with the ability to develop good working relationships with all departments and assist the ADs department if the opportunity should arise on set.
Ability to make rapid accurate assessments, using own initiative to prioritise tasks.
Adaptable, flexible and reliable as you will be assigned to different Units as required by the Unit Managers.
Good punctuality is essential for a role in Locations.
Strong interpersonal skills, including being able to adapt approach depending on the person and issue being dealt with.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
The ability to build and maintain effective relations both internally and externally.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
First Aid training, or the willingness to train as a First Aider, would be useful.
Good administration and IT skills would be advantageous.
Credible representative of the Company with both internal and external contacts and stakeholders.

In this role you will be required to move objects and equipment needed on location such as floor protection, tables, bins etc. From time to time, towing will be involved in the Unit Manager role. This role will also require a confident driver in possession of a valid UK driving licence.
