Live Events Media Producer

London

Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing information- and technology-related services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions.

We are modernising our technology foundations, digitising the processes of the university to transform experience for students and staff, and partnering across the university to drive differentiation in UCL education and research.

This role is based within the Educational Media team (part of Digital Education who are UCL's hub for supporting, exploiting and enhancing the use of technology in education) which oversees all UCL's educational media services - lecture capture, live streaming of academic and research events, and a variety of media production services. The team supports the academic community to use and create media in teaching and provides a DIY media production facility for staff and students to use.

About the role
As a Live Events Media Producer, you'll be collaborating with academic and professional services staff to understand their requirements and work with them to deliver their live event, ensuring these are delivered through the appropriate platform of choice. There is a requirement to manage the recording of these events and sharing these recordings either directly or through the appropriate UCL or external platform (this is a charged for service and record keeping of the events undertaken is essential).

You will also have the opportunity to work alongside the media production team and provide live streaming support where in person events are captured. The team support staff who want to run events themselves and an element of coordination with colleagues inside and external to the division is required to perform such training and support.

Your responsibilities will involve the following:

Supporting the delivery of live media event primarily using Zoom Webinar, Microsoft Teams Live
Advising and supporting staff to manage their own events, and/or providing live capture and editing services and the related live streaming support using live streaming software, such as Telestream Wirecast and Wowza which is also built into UCLLecturecast and Mediacentral systems
Undertake filming and audio recording of events, video production and podcasting
Contributing to the scoping, management, and production of wider media projects.
Please note, a percentage of late afternoon and early evening working is required, where time in lieu is offered to cover such events. Please also note this is primarily an onsite role where you will be required to be on campus (London Bloomsbury) 4 days a week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract role covering maternity leave.

About you
As a live events producer or videographer, you have experience of managing and running live events through the use of Zoom and Microsoft Teams using their webinar components. You have experience working with others to form a production team, managing video shoots and co-ordinating a group for audio production and audio podcasts. Additionally, with your industry wide exposure you're comfortable creating video and audio productions from start to finish as a solo operator - including scripting, storyboarding, filming, sound, editing, and post-production.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

Experience in livestreaming video content and the software/ hardware which support this (such as OBS, Wirecast, Wowza) and external service providers (Facebook, Periscope, YouTube)
Experience using screen-casting software, such as ScreenFlow, Camtasia and interactive video software, including H5P
Knowledge of live streaming, video and audio equipment for both studio and location purposes
Knowledge of video editing, image manipulation and audio production software applications, ideally Adobe CC suite, Apple Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, it is important that you have a good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite in both PC and Mac formats
Knowledge of GDPR and UK copyright legislation and how it relates to all aspects of producing, publishing and archiving video and audio content.
