Line Producer

Central London

• To successfully lead the production team
• To manage all staffing/resource matters
• To ensure successful delivery of the production to editorial specifications, deadlines and budget, responding to changing circumstances
and re-planning as necessary
• To control the management of programme budgets, driving efficiencies and appropriate margins and monitor all programme costs to
ensure that budgets are met, advising the HOP in situations where targets are not being met
• To ensure the production adheres to production, compliance and H&S guidelines and appropriate insurance is in place, offering guidance
on these matter
• To work on one or more productions depending on the scale as directed by the HOP
• To balance creative aspirations with financial and resource constraints, in conjunction with the HOP and production team, to prepare and
negotiate effective achievable budgets and productions for new commission, programme repeats and overseas sales, with an aim of
minimising costs, improving/maintaining efficiencies whilst delivering the best end product possible
• Provide timely, accurate financial forecasts and progress reports, identifying problems/risks in time to deliver workable solutions and
managing these as soon as they are identified
• To identify and set up location requirements for the production and liaise with all relevant bodies regarding permissions and other
logistical factors
• Negotiate and manage best value contracts establishing and maintaining a productive business relationship with external suppliers
• Negotiate appropriate deal terms with crews and programme resource providers
• To ensure that all programmes meet copyright, legal, commercial rights and delivery requirements, liaising with the DCP lawyer as
necessary
• To contribute to the production review process, analysing effectiveness of schedules and negotiated deals, ensuring learning from
past/current productions is applied successfully in the future
• To effectively manage upwards and maintain clear lines of communication with the editorial team and HOP, ensuring that any potential
issues are highlighted at the earliest opportunity
• To build and use a network of contacts to support the achievement of production goals
• To keep abreast of industry developments and new technology and share knowledge and experience with colleagues
