Following on from the recent success of productions such as Blue Planet 2 and Seven Worlds One Planet, the BBC Natural History Unit is embarking on a spectacular CGI-based super landmark about prehistoric life. We are looking for an enthusiastic Line Producer with a wealth of production experience to support a large production team in creating this exciting new Landmark series for a 3rd party client.The successful candidate will work closely with the Series Producer and Executive Producer as well as a number of high profile external partners. They will oversee the production which will entail managing a large team, multifaceted budget, filming in challenging environments in the UK and around the world; manage a complex CGI workflow and post production process.The successful candidate will be key to making crucial decisions as part of a complex workflow, will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills, have a positive outlook, be able to multi-task and most importantly be confident in managing key stakeholder relationships with high profile external partners.It is an amazing opportunity to join a very ambitious BBC NHU team and series.Due to the Covid19 outbreak and restrictions around social distancing this role would entail working from home until the office re-opens. Please do not apply if you are unable to work in Bristol once the restrictions are lifted.Main ResponsibilitiesYou must be comfortable working at a high level and capable of challenging decisions when required. Most importantly be quick at establishing yourself within a very experienced production team along with highly skilled experts in various fields who have extensive knowledge in their area of expertise. The team look to the Line Producer and Series Producer as the integral people in driving production, creating a positive working environment and communicating to all in a clear and precise mannerThe most important quality is to able to work side by side with the Series Producer in striving to deliver the very best series to a worldwide audience. At the same time continually growing and creating new ideas and therefore pushing the boundaries of new content to the limit. You have to be a forward thinker and have a positive outlook and most importantly be able to take setbacks in your stride. It is an amazing opportunity to join a very ambitious NHU team and expand your own knowledge to the full.Are you the right candidate?Prior experience in UK & foreign filming. Extensive management of crews in remote locations and prior experience in dealing with numerous agencies including fixers, embassies and other foreign agenciesProven ability to juggle multiple projects at any one time; driving forward progress and ensuring deadlines are met and priorities are clearly communicated. Rescheduling and budgeting new options where necessaryA proven track record of working with broad range of external stakeholders.Previous experience of natural history/CGI style programming or formats useful.Demonstrable experienced in leading contract negotiations and dealing with complex insurance and business affairs issues.Confidence in large budget management. Adjusting forecasts and predicted spends, negotiating unusual/one off deals where necessary.Driving savings, efficiencies and continually reviewing working practices to ensure best practice and on screen value for money.Demonstrable experience in the day to day management of production staff, undertaking responsibility for their recruitment, appraisal and training.Extensive management of large production teams and crews.Excellent working relationships with suppliers in the outside broadcast market and wider industry.Driving savings, efficiencies and continually reviewing working practices to ensure best practice and on screen value for money.A sound understanding of health and safety procedures.About the BBCWe don't focus simply on what we do - we also care how we do it.
