Lead VFX Artist

Royal Leamington Spa

As our Lead VFX Artist, you will be responsible for driving the quality and immersion of all the VFX in the game. As we aim to create memorable experiences for our players we're looking for people with an eye for detail and a passion for making the world feel alive through their VFX. You will define the quality benchmark and work as part of a team where everyone mentors and supports each other to excel.

You won't be alone in your role; you will benefit from close collaboration with other disciplines, working together to ensure that as a 'team' we support each other in all aspects of what we create. You will work with the Art Director, Technical Artists and graphics developers to ensure efficient pipelines and processes are in place that allow you and your team to achieve the highest quality. You will be involved in all aspects of planning and budgeting.

The role will see you mostly working in Unreal 5, with a variety of other software being used to help support the authoring processes. As a new AAA studio, there are excellent opportunities for both personal and professional growth, as we continue to establish ourselves in the gaming industry, you will be part of shaping this exciting story!

Requirements

Strong portfolio showcasing previous VFX work (ideally real-world effects: rain, smoke, dust clouds, fire etc.)
Experience as a Lead VFX Artist on shipped game titles
Proficient in visual effects authoring tools, particularly within Unreal Engine
Solid understanding of optimisation techniques for VFX in real-time environments
Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of guiding and inspiring a team
Familiarity with pipeline processes and collaboration across disciplines
Ability to conceptualise and execute compelling visual effects that elevate gameplay
Nice to Have:

Experience with Niagara and Houdini / EmberGen for VFX creation
Experience in authoring shaders for VFX, either HLSL or Node based (UE4/5)
Background in traditional art practices that enhances your digital artistry and prototypes
