Ideally we would like to start this position in our pre-planning phase in early December 2019 - however this is flexible. There is potential for contract extension.

This is an exciting position that would be perfect for someone with prior experience as a production assistant but with aspirations in set design. As the Junior Set Designer, you will primarily be tasked with producing CAD set designs and visualisations from briefs provided by the artistic directors. In addition to this, your role will have ancillary responsibilities that will utilise your experience as a production assistant.

Roles and responsibilities

* Create technical drawings and set plans using CAD software
* Create graphic designs and assets as required by the production
* Produce new graphic design assets for the show's website and printed materials
* Manage the social media accounts for the production
* Provide organisational and administrative support to the Directors, Show Producer and other members of crew
* Source a wide range of different materials and services required for the production
* Carry out scene research and contribute to mood boards
* Help manage the production logistics including running errands to pick up key props or supplies
* Be one of the first points of contact with the production team
* Maintain and distribute schedules and other communications to departments and casting
* Provide additional production assistance during build and rehearsal stages

To do this job well, you will need:

* Excellent CAD and graphic design skills to create high quality visual work
* A solid technical understanding of website design and management
* Previous experience managing social media accounts
* Ambition and resourcefulness - and enjoy big problems and the challenge of resolving them
* To be able to occasionally work 12-15 hours per day (while loading in and during build) and be prepared to work hours required to deliver the build on schedule.
* To be highly organised, resourceful, and efficient with a keen eye for detail.
* An ability to foster good working relationships with a range of different types of people from different backgrounds and experience levels.
* Passion for delivering impactful art and creating realistic environments.

The following skills and experience will be advantageous, so make sure you mention them in your cover letter:

* A proven track record creating technical drawings using CAD software
* Can demonstrate a portfolio of graphic work (including websites) that have you created
* You have experience driving a van and a clean driving record
