Junior Production Manager

Gardeners' World is our highly acclaimed, well-loved and long running gardening series for BBC Two. Produced by BBC Studios in Bristol, we are looking for an experienced, talented and motivated Junior Production Manager to join our team in the new year for Series 59. Gardeners World is a high-end, formatted magazine show, working with a large team of presenters led my Monty Don and filming weekly across the UK and at our Longmeadow location.

The role is ideally a full-time role, though a minimum four days per week will be considered. The JPM works closely with the Production Manager and Series Producer and is instrumental in the day-to-day smooth running of the project. We're looking for an excellent communicator who works collaboratively and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will be involved in multiple areas of production, so being a good multi-tasker who is proactive and organised is essential.

A passion for gardening and gardening content is a bonus.





YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT


Mission control for all filming, being first port of call for all queries from Producer Directors, PC's and the PMA's.
Working with the Forward Planning Producer and Production Manager to effectively schedule multiple filming teams, juggling a fast-paced schedule and ever-changing production environment.
Budgeting -responsible for the accurate and timely forecasting of specific areas of the budget and will work closely with the Production Accountant and Production Manager to ensure accurate forecasting filming spend and keeping up to date cost monitors.
Main point of contact for RHS Events, supporting the Events PC with planning & logistics as well as attending recces for the new locations.
Responsible for overseeing the delivery of the four flower shows - Malvern, GW Live, Badminton and Sandringham.
Responsible for the delivery of 140 x VT films in 7 months, liaising with a team of over 20 Producers on a day-to-day basis.
Ensuring all legal, insurance and H&S paperwork is in place for all VT & Events filming. Confident in knowing when and how to flag risks to PM, SP and SE in a timely manner.
Across Freelancer queries, including contract and payment issues, and managing the processing of freelancer expenses for a large freelance team with timely reconciliation.
Day to day line-management responsibilities for PMAs and Runners.
Assisting in ensuring compliance with BBC policies, guidelines, legislative and regulatory requirements, to minimise the BBC's exposure to risk.
Responsible for onboarding new starters, which includes completing IT onboarding for new starters and liaising with the IT team as well as flagging any access requirements to the Production Manager.
This role will champion environmentally responsible practices and ensure compliance with Albert certification. The JPM will play an active role in ensuring all our Albert Data is captured correctly.




YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


At least 2 years prior experience as a JPM working on a fast turnaround production and juggling multiple filming teams at any one time.
Proven track record of line management of a team of PMA's and Runners on a day-to-day basis along with career development support. Example of providing pastoral support to a young team welcomed.
Able to demonstrate strong organisational and planning skills and managing conflicting demands to meet deadlines and dealing with multiple filming schedules at any one time.
Demonstrable experience managing specific areas of a production budget and supporting overall budget oversight. Experience with forecasting on ECAT desirable but not essential.
Ability to liaise with on-screen experts/presenters regarding scheduling commitments and logistics
Able to manage interpersonal relationships effectively and work collaboratively within a diverse team.
