Junior Editor - Documentaries

Kew, London

Whisper is a leading global production company, specialising in high-end sports production, unscripted entertainment, branded content and factual television. The company is a six-times Broadcast Best Places to Work (2017-2020, 2022, 2023) and this is an exciting opportunity to join the team.

We are looking for a Junior Editor to join our Documentaries team to work on an exciting new access series. The role would suit someone who is passionate about working in documentaries and has a creative & knowledgeable skill set in post production. The ideal candidate would have previous Junior Editor credits, with the ability to speak Arabic being desirable.

Key Responsibilities:
• Preparing projects in advance for producers & editors based on requirements
• Assisting producers & editors with rough cutting & crafting edits plus preparing projects for final post including sound mixing and exporting for dub and colour correction and sending picture locked sequence to grade.
• Working closely with the edit support & media management teams
• Working with proxy file workflow and cloud based workflows, in particular Lucid Link
• Understanding the technical requirements for editing on Adobe Premier Pro
• Keeping abreast of developments and trends in the documentary genre and make suggestions for creative content
• Ensuring that the output complies with Whisper's editorial, technical, design and accessibility standards, whilst always working to the company's Health and Safety policy
• Upholding the reputation of the company by embodying the ethos of Whisper


Skills and Experience:
• Comprehensive knowledge & demonstrable experience of using Adobe Premiere Pro and work-ing on a production throughout all stages of post production from offline to final post
• Arabic speaker desirable
• Ability to use After Effects (Mac-based) would be beneficial
• Passion for creativity and visual storytelling, and ambition to work as part of the team to suggest new ideas and designs
• Understanding of the technical specifications, creative and editorial requirements for delivering output directly to broadcast and also social media platforms
• Understanding of media management, requesting, and ingesting of content, as well as broad-cast delivery specifications and codecs
• Ability to understand a brief from the internal production team and external clients
• Ability to work independently as well as alongside an Edit Producer & editors, and to amend projects started by other editors
• Knowledge and enthusiasm for sport
• A demonstrable level of creativity with the ability to bring a fresh new approach to creating en-gaging and evolving output

Location: The base for this position will predominantly be Kew, London, cannot work remotely, international travel on occasion
Working Days: This role will require a degree of flexibility and weekend working. You will be expected to work with the team to plan a schedule based on production requirements, Lieu days will be given for any days worked over a five-day week. Whisper offer the option of flexitime hours subject to production requirements.

Start/End: January 2023 on 6 months FTC
