The Casualty team are looking for expressions of interests for Junior Camera Assistant opportunities.
Becoming an integral member of the Camera Department of a Continuous Drama is relentlessly challenging and diverse. Refining your ingenuity and problem solving to keep the show rolling. The fast paced and varied nature of Casualty nurtures development in all areas of the profession. Being a Medical Drama creates challenging stunts, current medical storylines and long running character development.
Your Key Responsibilities will be:
• To Support all members of the camera team in their duties and responsibilities.
• Under supervision, support work on the rigging, de-rigging and preparation of electronic cameras and equipment including line-up, and checking equipment performance and safety.
• Support the operation of electronic cameras, according to the briefings and instructions from the team, and assist with obtaining, and retaining television pictures to meet the artistic and technical requirements of the production.
• Support the operation or direction of camera mountings, and associated cabling.
• Assist in the resolution of operational problems of camera positions, and movement and shot feasibility.
• Under instruction assist in the moving of equipment to aid efficiency, and maximise set up ratios.
• An understanding of the development of techniques associated with new equipment and production demands.
• Filling out of camera reports if required;
• Following appropriate training, assist the team with general camera team tasks such as: Camera, sound and vision systems rigging, movement and de-rigging of monitors, cable running and collection, rigging and maintaining of wireless picture projection systems, and safety measures associated with these tasks such as taping down of cables, or tidying and cleaning of kit.
WHAT WILL IT TAKE?
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Demonstrable knowledge of camera engineering and examples of using this knowledge in past experience
• Proven knowledge of the workings of camera equipment and examples of using this knowledge in past experience
• Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety guidelines and Legislation
• A valid and clean driving licence
• Demonstrable knowledge of TV Productions and production processes
• Experience of carrying out instructions with great accuracy and attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and enthusiasm for the craft of camera
• Experience of dealing with a range of individuals
