BBC Radio Cornwall is the BBC's Local Radio station for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. This is an opportunity to be part of the team working towards our weekend programmes for Cornwall and Devon, supporting the producer and presenter in the studio. Every other week you will work alongside the David White Show team to deliver entertaining and up to date content on a Friday afternoon. You will be working on live output and turning content into stories for audiences our social media channels. We thrive on sharing great stories and if you do too, this could be the perfect role for you.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:You'll play a key role supporting producers in preparing and outputting our weekend breakfast and daytime shows and a weekday afternoon show.You will support a multiplatform approach to our local content.The role has some technical responsibilities, including editing audio and dealing with live sources as the show is transmitted, as well as speaking to callers.You will be preparing content for our social media channels and BBC Sounds.As part of the production team, you will also come up with ideas for stories and treatments, set up guests, write scripts and provide research background.YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEInclusivity, respect and teamwork are important to us. You will have the ability to work flexibly and efficiently under pressure, to tight deadlines and in a constantly changing live studio environment, with first rate communication skills. You will be excited about BBC Local's goals and the future of audio.ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a teamEnglish and Maths Level 2 or GSCE level 4 and aboveBe able to come up with creative ways to tell stories to our audienceCalm under pressure and ability to reach deadlinesDESIRABLE :An understanding of the target audience for BBC Radio CornwallExperience creating social media and digital content that attracts a big audience.If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we'd love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
