Immersive Theatre Lead Technician

London

We are currently recruiting Lead Technicians to join our Layered Reality team at The Gunpowder Plot: The Immersive Experience (www.gunpowderimmersive.com) and The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience (www.thewaroftheworldsimmersive.com). These are layered reality multi-sensory experiences set inside iconic buildings, combining music, immersive theatre, virtual reality, motion simulators and 5D effects.



Position Summary

The Lead Technician supports the Technical manager in ensuring we deliver these cutting-edge experiences at the optimal level to all guests. On a daily basis, the Lead Technician will carry out planned and reactive maintenance throughout the experience and ensure the day-to-day operation is running safely, smoothly and efficiently. During live show periods the technical department operate the master show control system, which triggers all aspects from opening of doors allowing people to move around, to more traditional technologies such as lighting, sound and AV. During this time they are also responsible for information flow about elements of the show to both cast and crew, so excellent communication skills are key.



Scope & Responsibilities

Assisting in management of the technical operations, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties. Responsibilities include completing daily/weekly reports, operating and maintaining the lighting, sound, video projection, pyro and automation around the venue, along with ensuring that the site is safe for all staff and guests. During live periods you will be expected to operate the master show control system and other tasks as required. You will further be responsible for troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise, sometimes independently and at speed during live show operations.



Background & Experience

You will be a highly self-motivated, service focused individual, who can assist in leading a team, and is able to demonstrate a good knowledge in the use of most technical disciplines including Audio, Video, Lighting, timecode, Dante, and QLab operation. Experience with the application of virtual reality technology and previous experience in immersive theatre is preferred. In-house training will be given on the systems. Technical theatre education is desirable.
