Over 50 shows from Wondery have hit #1 on Apple Podcasts. Many Wondery podcasts have been adapted for scripted television or streaming series, including Dr. Death and Joe vs Carole on Peacock and The Shrink Next Door and WeCrashed on Apple TV+. Wondery is looking for a Head of Podcast Content, UK to lead the growth of our original podcast slate in the UK. In this position you will support the sourcing, development and execution of the local original content strategy and productions, reporting into the Head of International Podcast Content. This role will be responsible for managing a team of Producers, providing guidance on creative approach, production process, and best practices for how to create compelling originals that can be released within the Wondery brand of premium story-driven podcasts like Hooked on Freddie, British Scandal, Terribly Famous and Ghost Story.
The ideal candidate will bring energy and passion to everything they do, with extensive experience in building, inspiring and managing a fast-paced team across development and production, creating a culture of innovation and thinking big. You will have considerable experience in a fast paced, high growth media environment. You are a collaborative leader and will have a proven ability to build bridges and connect resources across stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a both a strong creative and invested leader with the proven ability to manage teams across all genres, solving day to day production problems as well as supporting bigger strategic issues relevant to the UK. You must have deep experience with story structure and storytelling; experience with audio and podcast production is a plus, but other types of deep development experience in other media will be considered. You should be engaged and curious about the world, understand story and how to convey complex factual information in an entertaining, dramatically compelling and emotionally engaging way.


Key job responsibilities
• Lead and manage the UK podcast content team
• Work with the senior Wondery team to execute the content strategy for UK.
• Drive the development and production pipeline of local Originals
• Lead highly creative teams, balance several projects at once, drive toward clear goals and pivot quickly when needed, and help producers reach their full potential
• Develop and work on a range of show concepts: from highly produced mini-series to talent-driven interview shows
• Set production goals, timelines, budgets and deliverables with third-party creators
• Act as a local point of contact and support for the local creative community (production companies, talent etc.)
• Liaise with marketing and ad operations to get the marketing and ad sales materials needed from third-party producers and talent
• Regularly communicate with creators and producers
• Collect and provide detailed feedback on outlines, scripts and mixes
• Be a key part of the Commissioned Original vetting and approval process

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Strong experience as an editor, producer, audio storyteller, film/television development, or documentary production
· A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment
· Experience in executing against a content strategy and delivering results.
· Experience overseeing all creative aspects of development production and post production
· A creative approach to storytelling with sound
· Experience managing a team of creative producers
· Strong organizational and project management skills
· Enthusiasm for Wondery's style and ambition to develop new approaches to storytelling

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 7+ years as an editor, producer, audio storyteller, film/television development, or documentary production
- In-depth understanding of the London podcast marketplace, creative trends and the podcast landscape
- Broad network of creators
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead large projects and facilitate group meetings.
