The role provides an incredible opportunity to drive and expand the scripted development slate of an exciting film production company.Being passionate and knowledgeable about film is a must. The candidate will have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the film and television industry, with strong industry and talent relationships and at least 3 years experience in scripted development. Must have at least 12 months experience of working in a similar capacity in the industry.Duties/ResponsibilitiesRunning the development of new and existing scripted projects on the slate and overseeing the Development Executive role. Duties & responsibilities include, but not limited to:- Working closely with the company's book scout to find new IP and projects for the slate.- Securing the best and most appropriate writer/director talent for the new projects generated.- Overseeing the editorial side of the development process: leading script meetings and project calls where appropriate; producing editorial notes to an extremely high level.- Closing development and writer/director agreements, liaising with financiers, agents and legal.- Tracking new and existing talent.- Overseeing the Development Executive's duties/responsibilities.- Overseeing the maintenance and updating of master databases, including talent, commissioners, script submissions, etc.- Ensuring submissions are read, reported on and responded to, either by you, or the development executive.- Leading on creating, writing and editing pitch documents for in-house projects.- Carrying out in depth research in support of new or existing developments. This can range from researching the most appropriate source material (books, essays, articles, etc) to meeting with experts in the appropriate field.- Overseeing funding applications.- Putting together development budgets for in-house projects and generally managing research and development budgets.Required Knowledge and Experience- A track record of identifying great new ideas and talent.- Experience script editing, providing notes with an ability to demonstrate soundeditorial judgement and sensitivity, both verbally and on paper.- Ability to work unsupervised, exercising initiative and assessing priorities but referring issues upwards where appropriate.- Excellent organisational skills- Some management experience- Pre-existing relationships with agents and their clients- Pre-existing relationships with financiers and execsOther infoThe workplace will be at our London office a minimum of 3 days per week and hours are 9.30am - 6pm.
