Head of Production

London office

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an ambitious and growing media production company as Head of Production.

At Econ Films, you will be reporting to the Company Founder & Managing Director and work closely with the rest of the production team. Your main task will be to ensure a smooth-running production and office environment; provide senior level support to the team and manage the daily, weekly and monthly operations for the business. The current full-time staff is five with a team of a dozen regular freelancers - double the amount of 18 months ago.

This is a chance to step up to join the management team of an exciting new business. The role will suit someone from a larger company looking to take the next step in their career, a freelancer looking for a long-term contract or an experienced person re-joining work after a break. We can offer flexible work for those with families.


About Econ Films
Econ Films is a production company specialising in videos and films about economics, finance, business, politics, public policy and science - for any audience. Econ Films was founded in 2014 and has quickly grown to attract international clients and overseas assignments, travelling to more than 15 countries across four continents. Our typical assignments are lecture courses, research videos and documentaries. Our clients include the United Nations, the London School of Economics, Oxford University, Mars Incorporated and the UK Treasury. We have interviewed well over 20 Nobel Laureates and senior politicians including former UK Chancellor's Alistair Darling and George Osborne as well as former Prime Minister David Cameron. Key responsibilities:

Production Management

- Setting up projects: attending pre-production meetings with clients, booking crew for production and post-production and organising logistics such as travel, location and accommodation.
- Managing our existing production team, edit team and schedule
- Managing hand-over process with clients, being the final quality control
- Closing down projects - ensuring all assets are archived.

Operations & office management
- Facilities management and supplier management
- Monitoring all out-going expenses and providing monthly report, including suggestions for saving money
- Dealing with contracts
- Managing payslips
- Issuing and chasing invoices
- Maintaining supplier accounts and uploading supplier invoices into Xero
- Completing payment run reports, making payments on behalf of the business and sending out remittances as required
- Bank reconciliations on a weekly basis
- Working with the Company Founder, Accountant and Bookkeeper on the preparation and filing of the quarterly VAT returns
- Managing kit, including maintenance and hire

• Assisting with day-to-day Econ Films management
• Assisting with sales and development, as required

Skills & experience required

Essential:
• Significant experience in media production environment, including production management on projects with budgets ranging from £5,000 - £20,000
• Team management
• Budget Management
• Processing receipts and paying invoices
• Exceptional data entry skills with a keen eye for detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office & Google Suite, particularly MS Excel
• Experience using production management or project management software, such as Monday.com, Project TeamWork, Microsoft Project or Basecamp
• Able to work remotely (when required) and without supervision
• Strong time management and organisational skills.

Desirable:
• An economics, politics, business or science-related degree
• Understanding of simple bookkeeping using accounting software such as Xero
• Drivers Licence
