Head of Production

London

The Head of Production Role is a key leadership role with responsibility for Picture Post teams including Workflow Design, Production and Grading and Editing Operations.

BACKGROUND

The UK Post Business offers a range of services through two specialist teams focused on the differing needs of the Feature and Episodic markets. This role is will oversee both.
Technicolor holds a strong position in the Studio Feature, Streaming and UK Broadcast markets and therefore deals with the elite end of the Content Production Market. This assumes a highly political environment and sometimes unpredictable behaviours from those involved.
This is a new role and one that seeks to align the Feature and Episodic teams which have traditionally operated independently.

EXPERIENCE

* Substantial experience working in a Postproduction environment, detailed knowledge of Dailies, DI, Post, VFX Pulls, Mastering and Deliveries (Imaging Processes) as they apply to both Features and Episodic content.
* Ideally has a track record as a Senior Post Producer / Project Manager on Studio Level Features
* Deep knowledge / experience of Feature Film and Episodic Postproduction processes and Studio Deliveries such that a 'hands on' approach is possible for periods of leave cover
* Line management experience of a small-medium team, including responsibility for resourcing and performance management.
* Proven ability to build and maintain sustaining relationships with clients at all levels. This includes excellent client handling skills, with a network of industry contacts and established relationships along with experience in generating new business from existing and new clients.
* In general, strong communication skills, excellent organizational skills, ability to work on own initiative and proactively handle day-to-day Client Services issues.

EXPECTATIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

* Build an effective Project Management Team that is fully integrated and highly collaborative with Artists, Operations and Technology Services and who understand and provide Studio Level Post services
* Proactively manage and develop the Production Team including recruitment, selection, managing performance, conducting appraisals, objective setting, training and dismissals if appropriate.
* Work with the Feature and Episodic teams to standardise and align deliverables, share resources that service both teams and in the long term develop cross training plans.

Talent
* To manage and develop key talent, with a focus on Colourists and Editors. Occasionally there may be a need to manage projects for Supervising Colourists including Guest and Freelance Colourists. The role requires a collaborative style, listening, understanding and providing support.

Clients
* Able to build and maintain sustaining relationships with clients at all levels and actively assist in the sales process, winning repeat business and taking part in dispute resolutions and internal customer complaints regarding Client Services performance
* Work with the Sales team to quote and work with the creative, technology and operations teams to provide workflow solutions and effective but flexible schedules
* Set expectations for and actively drive exemplary Client Experience throughout the building and the business.

Projects

* Ensure all project management processes are aligned within the group, utilising all tools available to the business. Standardise the approach, production and completion to ensure smooth running of projects. Reduce excess data duplication, highlight areas for increased efficiency through automation and identify methods of improving resource utilisation.
* The Deliveries on Studio Features and Streaming projects continues to grow in complexity. Understanding and managing these requirements is a significant part of the role
* Accountability for Project Profitability and the systems that enable measurement including timely billing activities and resource utilisation.
* Support the development of our integrated web-based media management platform. Orchestrate Production training and understanding of the tool, whilst helping support clients in its everyday application.

Group

* To use knowledge, systems and resources from the Technicolor Group to provide solutions to clients of both Technicolor Global Post and Technicolor UK
* Articulate, document and maintain processes and procedures aligned to workflow and business process along with the occasional business / project plans aligned to Business strategies. As required share with the UK team and the Technicolor Group.
* To integrate seamlessly alongside the senior management team, building good working relationships and routines and being able to work well with all stakeholder levels.

* Build an effective Picture Finishing Team
* Develop a common approach to project management and workflow across Feature and Episodic Finishing, long term integrating workflow between Feature, Episodic and VFX
* Cohesive approach to scheduling Feature and Episodic projects
* Develop a highly skilled and market recognised team of Colourists and Editors
* Establish a robust Deliveries Tracking System
* Develop an effective collaboration with the Picture Finishing and VFX teams
* Align Technicolor UK and Technicolor LA operations where possible
