The News Division has talented teams providing Production, Business and Administration support across all of our output and across all platforms. These teams are embedded within the various departments and discrete productions and play a central role in ensuring our content is produced smoothly and efficiently. From supporting our daily continuous output stands to ensuring complex overseas documentaries and films are delivered to the right quality and budget, these teams can often be on the ground experts in areas as diverse as overseas resourcing, financing and budgeting arrangements and Health and Safety risks. Reporting to the Senior Head of Production this role will oversee the operational, financial and logistical management and leadership of the business areas within the News and Current Affairs portfolio - such as World Service Languages and News output.Role ResponsibilityAs well as the duties outlined in the job description, one of your main focuses will be to help achieve significant savings targets within News. This will be achieved by deep dives into programming areas to analyse production models, implementing and driving strong efficiency plans and driving consistency of business process. The areas you will be responsible for are some production areas within News Output and World Service Languages areas - they will include a wide geographical spread and some travel will be expected. You will also be deputising for the Senior Head of Production, News and Current Affairs.You will provide strong career development support to the Production Management community, oversee some Production Executives where appropriate and support our senior editorial leaders to deliver impactful original journalism across all BBC News platforms. In this role you have the potential to make it a pan UK role ensuring best practice and shared learning will be spread across the UK and globally. It will bring together different parts of the business that require strong leadership and management. Are you the right candidate?You will have extensive experience of production management at Production Executive level or above across a broad range of output as well as substantial knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform production with a level of technical understanding, excellent business and finance skills, and extensive knowledge of commissioning and green light.You will bring experience of leading large and diverse teams across a broad range of output and locations, alongside proven experience of leading change and continuous improvement programs. You will have a good understanding of the competitive challenges of News & Current Affairs and a track record in delivering business growth. To build a collaborative team that meets the needs of stakeholders and the audience, you'll possess strong leadership, organisation and advanced influencing skills. Live daily news experience is key as well as experience of leading and managing large savings programmes.
