The Head of Development reports to the Director of TV Production and is responsible for the origination and development of new ideas across all genres. You will be responsible for managing the development team and associated budgets, and for overseeing a diverse and innovative slate. As a senior member of the TV Production department, you will be a key contact for on and off-screen talent and responsible for implementing our TV Development strategy.

Responsibilities
Manage the broadcast development team in the generation of programme ideas and proposals
Maintain a detailed knowledge of the television landscape and the major broadcasters' needs, devising and developing programmes to suit those needs
Keep abreast of and contribute to maintaining ITN Productions' relationships with key commissioning editors
Create pitching materials and programme proposals
Pitch ideas to broadcasters and collaborate with the appropriate Executive Producer(s) throughout the development process
Lead brainstorms
Manage the allocation of development resources across the slate, in line with the wider departmental strategy
Manage the development slate of ideas, maintaining a record of projects and proposals as they move through the development process
Recruit development staff as required in response to the ebb and flow of the development slate, liaising with relevant Executive Producer(s)
As the development lead in the senior broadcast team, contribute to ongoing departmental discussions around ITN Productions' strategic direction

Qualifications
Experience leading successful creative teams
Highly experienced developer of factual television ideas with a track record of creating innovative new programming
Experienced in every stage of the development process:
conceiving new ideas
overseeing brainstorms
creating proposals and taster tapes
pitching to commissioning editors
securing access and talent
securing commissions
Passion for and deep understanding of the factual genre, including documentary, factual-entertainment, features, specialist-factual and beyond
Up-to-date knowledge of the factual television landscape, and in particular the needs of British terrestrials and global SVODs
Superb contacts book, including production and development talent, on-screen talent and agents and commissioning editors
Experience managing large budgets
