The premiere of the first-ever theatre adaptation of Suzanne Collins' internationally acclaimed book and Lionsgate's motion-picture, The Hunger Games: On Stage comes to London in 2025.Adapted by multi award-winning playwright Conor McPherson and directed by Matthew Dunster, The Hunger Games: On Stage will be performed in a brand-new state-of-the-art venue, Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre. Job DescriptionAs Head of SFX and Automation, you will be responsible for the design, installation and operation of all automation and special effects elements of the show.You will manage a team of technicians, collaborating with designers and the technical team, and ensuring the seamless integration of automation and SFX with the production's overall technical needsKey ResponsibilitiesTaking responsibility for the safe running and maintenance of all automated and mechanical elements of a technically complicated show including scenic automation, performer flying and special effects.To set up and manage the Automation DepartmentTo work closely and collaboratively with all departments ensuring they are well supported by the Automation departmentTo create, oversee and teach all automation plots involved in running the showTo undertake automation plots where necessarySupervise and train others in the Automation departmentEssential CriteriaProven track record of managing the automation requirements of a technically complex and long running show including setting up a show and a departmentProven experience of managing a departmentExperience of Absolute Motion Control and XMOVE.Experience of performer flyingExperience of special effectsProduction Dates:Start date: Mid September 2025Rehearsals commence on 11th August 2025First performance on 20th October 2025Salary: UK Theatre/Bectu agreementHow To ApplyPlease send your CV and cover letter, indicating which role you are applying for
