Channel 4 News is looking for a General Reporter based in Leeds with a passion for covering breaking news and delivering exclusive stories for both our 7pm flagship programme and our digital platforms.Key Responsibilities Ability to make well-crafted television packages and deliver lives for Channel 4 News Passionate about original journalism with a proven record of breaking exclusive stories Contribute ideas to and story pitches to the programme editors, UK Editor and Head of Regions. Particularly stories that impact communities in the Midlands and the North of England Work closely with our digital team when developing stories and content Be committed to telling the stories of those from under-represented and minority communities Possess the flexibility to cover breaking news and travel at short notice Capability to work on on-the-day news stories whilst developing longer term projects Possess a very strong interest in news and current affairs both in the UK and abroad Adhere to Ofcom broadcasting codes and ITN legal and compliance guidance Responsible for health and safety when in the field These are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. Key Requirements Experience of television journalism - both packaging and live broadcasting Diverse range of contacts in the Midlands and North of England Experience of storytelling for digital audiences A commitment to reflect diversity when storytelling Impeccable news judgement, with a very keen interest in news and current affairs Ability to work independently or as part of a team Experience of working within Ofcom broadcasting codes and ITN legal and compliance guidance Our people are at the heart of everything we do at ITN.
