Freelance Participatory Filmmakers

London

Established in 2006, Inside Job Productions (IJP) is one of the UK's leading film and media production companies operating as a social enterprise.

Our core business is focused on the creation of high-quality film and digital content that helps our clients communicate with their audience and customers. Our commissions come from a diverse range of clients across the third, public, and corporate sectors, from Johnson & Johnson to the Refugee Council, from the NHS to Business in the Community. We're delighted when our film work is recognised by others too. We've won many prestigious awards, most recently being shortlisted for an animation we produced for a leading UK charity which campaigns on behalf of some of society's more invisible communities.

As a social enterprise, we also take real pride in our social impact work which changes vulnerable people's lives for the better. Our primary focus is on providing training and employment opportunities for individuals and communities who are struggling due to debilitating mental health conditions. Our projects provide work and learning environments which enable people to flourish and ultimately secure long-term employment. For example, we run a production trainee scheme that supports young people living with a mental health problem getting into film production. We're also active within the criminal justice sector: One of our current projects, funded through a grant awarded by HM Prison and Probation Service, is helping to improve mental health communications for people in London prisons and within the wider community.

We are now looking for Freelance Participatory Filmmakers to help us facilitate some of our workshops and projects in development which use film as a tool for talking about mental health and wellbeing.

We will be running a range of workshops tailored to different groups, ranging from primary-aged school children to teenagers and young adults up to 25. It is vital that you have some experience working with young people in a participatory setting, and you will need to go through a Criminal Record Check (DBS).

We welcome applications from anyone with an interest and knowledge of issues relating to mental health and wellbeing. You also need to have significant experience in filmmaking and working with young people. We particularly encourage people from minority backgrounds to apply.

At this moment we are unsure of how often workshops will be held, and freelancers will be paid a day rate or half-day rate depending on the length and time of workshops.
