Filmmaker

Wandsworth

Looking for a film maker to collaborate on a docu-style short film available for c.3 x shooting dates during Feb & Mar 2019

The Project
Wandsworth Young Chef of the Year is a school based cooking competition. The project takes c.15 students from c.6 x schools in Wandsworth through two masterclasses with professional chefs and ends in a live cook-off judged by professionals.

The Brief
As the marketing agency appointed by the client, we produce a short film to capture the experience of being involved in the Young Chef competition - this is used by our client to inspire entrants the following year, to explain the impact of their work to partners/funders and to add value for everyone involved.
After two years capturing the event, our client is keen to explore alternative creative routes, which need to be:

- Affordable
- Able to be captured at live location shoots (2 x 2hr masterclasses, 1 x 3hr live final and, if required, additional filming at each school) and flexible in terms of lighting / equipment due to the locations
- Needs to capture the experience
- And allow the viewer to be inspired to support the competition the following year

How we work with you
The client belongs to us (West Creative) and we manage the relationship - this means you don't need to worry about negotiations or get bogged down in logistics planning - freeing you to focus on the creative content. This is a structure we use with all our creative suppliers and clients. Our approach is highly collaborative, so being open to suggestions and ideas from our wider team of creatives makes the difference.
As a team we can supply graphics and a journalist - so if your design skills or interview skills aren't your strong point don't worry.

The Maths
Budget is dependent on the format; higher sums be allocated to creative approaches that are a strong match to the brief. However, as a guide the total fee for shooting and edit will be c.£1,500-£2,000+VAT

How to Express Interest
The last thing we want is to waste your time - we're a pretty straightforward bunch. If the budget range, location and timings (Feb/Mar 2029) have scope to suit you - get in touch.
What we ask you to supply is a short overview, including the following:
1. Who you are, where you're at in your career, what attracted you to this brief
2. Some examples of your work
3. Brief outline of what creative approach you think would work or be worth exploring

Deadline 21 December 2018

We'll reply to everyone. Over the Christmas break we'll review all expressions of interest and plan to set up some meetings with our shortlist in early January.
Thanks for reading, looking forward to hearing from you.
