The Field Support Engineer role offers an exciting mix of operational and technical support responsibilities. As an operator, you will be responsible for the deployment and operation of our News Production ("SNG") Vehicles in the support of both daily newsgathering and major event coverage. As a field-focused support engineer, you will support news crews by providing the expertise, preventative maintenance and fault resolution to ensure smooth operation and minimal service disruption across our field and connectivity equipment. This would include cameras, broadcast comms, laptop editing, cellular bonding and wallboxes. You will also work closely with Location Engineering Managers in the planning and delivery of major Outside Broadcast events.Key Responsibilities Drive and operate connectivity/OB production vehiclesDiagnose faults & take necessary action to rectify problems with field equipment, to include: ENG cameras, bonded cellular units, edit laptops, broadcast comms, encoders and wallboxesSupport news crews remotely with expertise in connectivity optionsSupport Location Engineering Managers in the planning and execution of large OB eventsPerform daily system status checks on core field technology, systems, and infrastructureBuild, deploy and upgrade field laptop editing systemsFollow up on issues raised during handovers, ensuring tickets are logged and prioritizedDevelop and maintain good working relationships with field operators and the wider Technology team to assist in fault diagnosisEnsure faulty equipment is returned to support or manufacturers and chase any outstanding tickets for updates and timescalesMonitor levels of spares in the Field Support Store and maintain inventoryWork flexibly as shift work is involvedUndertake any other duties as required by line managers or ITNKey Requirements Previous involvement in the deployment and operation of Outside Broadcast facilities preferredProficiency and demonstrable experience in diagnosing and rectifying faults on broadcast systemsProficiency and demonstrable experience in first line diagnosis and fault resolution for user I.TWorking knowledge of connectivity solutions such as bonded cellular, LEO satellite and fixed networks/circuitsKnowledge of field cameras such as the Sony FX6, FX9 and Z280Knowledge of broadcast communication systems such as RTS and RiedelKnowledge of IT configurationKnowledge of IP delivery methods including:Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere/Creative CloudKnowledge of various editing and camera CODECS & Wrappers preferredWillingness to undertake rigging and cabling duties on location, which may involve climbing and working at heightsCommitment to observing safe working practices and carrying out formal risk assessments and method statements when required. Relevant technical certifications or qualificationsTechnical qualification at degree level in Broadcast Engineering or equivalentWillingness to travel, occasionally internationally, sometimes at late noticeStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamFlexibility to work shifts as requiredValid driver's license
