The Field Producer will monitor international developments, pitch story ideas, and help shape MSNBC's global editorial agenda. This role also involves frequent travel to cover major international news events - from political summits to natural disasters and breaking news - supporting correspondents and crews in the field. Proactively pitch story ideas and suggest guest and expert contacts to editorial teams in New York and beyond.
Coordinate all elements of field production: securing locations, booking travel, arranging crews, and managing transmission.
Travel to cover major international news events, often on short notice.
Work closely with reporters, camera crews, and editors to ensure smooth execution of live shots, packages, and special reports.
Write scripts, fact-check information, and ensure editorial accuracy under tight deadlines.
Liaise with local fixers, translators, and officials to facilitate reporting in complex environments.
Pitch and escalate urgent developments or noteworthy stories to the New York Desk in real-time.
Maintain close communication with MSNBC producers in the U.S. to support seamless cross-bureau collaboration.
Ensure adherence to journalistic and safety standards in all newsgathering activity.
Deputise for the Director of International News as required.
Monitor regional developments and maintain strong contacts across the UK and internationally in conjunction with the Director of International News.
Will be a hybrid role producer and assignment editor
