European Production Manager

London

Position Summary:

The European Production Manager is responsible for the management of production and translation workflow within the European region. They are also responsible for the analysis and forecasts necessary for the control of internal and external resources, cost reduction and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Track, forecast, and schedule departmental workload and resource requirements and work with studio and creative teams to allocate resources to jobs 30%
• Produce analysis of cost, systems and processes to support effective cost management, resource utlisation and quality improvement 30%
• Generate reports to the Director of Production Manager and the VP of Creative showing departmental capacity, utilisation, productivity and achievement on a series of key performance indicators 20%
• Source external suppliers for translations, recordings and audio production in the UK and elsewhere 20%
• Other duties as required.

Requirements:

• Minimum 4 years in Production or Translation Management role
• Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
• Able to demonstrate strong analytical skills & a high level of numeracy
• Experience of budget management
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills including writing and speaking skills and ability to interact diplomatically with all levels of employees, clients and vendors.
• Fluency in English is a requirement; additional languages an advantage
• Knowledge of audio, video, film or multimedia production processes
• Legal right to work in the UK.

Metrics:

Role has a significant impact on the department's ability to deliver a complex workload on time and to budget and demands a proactive role in shaping the development of the systems & processes used to more effectively deliver production.

• This role demands an ability to use a significant level of independent judgment to balance demands for tight cost control, high volume of throughput and high quality production. Decisions affect the outcome both of individual projects and the longer term performance of the department.
• The department manages in excess of 350 projects per annum with the majority of projects coming from Europe and a small minority in the Middle East and Africa.
• It is important that the person in this position is comfortable in a fast moving, deadline driven environment and that they are able to make swift, logical decisions and adapt to constantly changing circumstances.
• The Creative team is spread between 6 offices. An ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with remotely based colleagues is vital.

The department has been set significant targets for the improvement of both cost and quality. At the same time we are undergoing a process of re-structuring that is likely to require changes to our day-to-day systems and processes. This role will play a pivotal part in informing and monitoring the impact of those changes.
