We campaign to provide an independent film scene that is both entertaining and challenging, inspiring empathy through diverse stories from an eclectic range of life experiences.The Communications & Engagement Officer will be responsible for IFT communications via social media, newsletters, press releases and the IFT website. The successful applicant will write a regular blog on issues relating to increasing representation in UK arts, culture and heritage sectors.The Communications & Engagement Officer will curate a series of public talks and events with industry figures to help aspiring filmmakers and visual artists access important industry insights and advice.Job Impact:• You will work closely with the CEO and IFT PR advisor to shape all IFT communications, community engagement and PR campaigns - across education, professional production and mentoring.• You will shape and enhance the daily communication between the IFT and our broad community of underrepresented filmmakers.• You will be a spokesperson for the IFT on matters regarding diversity within the film, arts and culture industries, the importance of film and media education, and the work the IFT is doing to empower marginalised voices.Key responsibilities and accountabilities:Communications Strategy• Responsibility for planning the Communications and Engagement Strategy for the IFT, including planning how this is to be achieved and setting timeframes and steps for achieving the strategy.• The Engagement and Communications Officer will be accountable for the delivery of the engagement and communications plan, acting as coordinator for the key communication areas and working in collaboration with the IFT team to ensure consistency of message and alignment of content.Publications• Responsible for a coherent and planned approach to producing IFT newsletters, the IFT weekly blog.• Project managing the delivery of publications, to ensure a consistency of message whilst maintaining the individuality of each publication according to its audience.• Within an overall strategy for communications; research, write and publish stories about the IFT and the charity's areas of interest, and promote to key audiences.• Digital content creation and management• Moderation of the website, including:• Serving as Editor, managing a moderation process which will include other users.Content creation• Planning the timing and nature of content for the IFT website. Liaise directly with the IFT team to design and develop content based on engagement objectives and strategic communications priorities.• Being a specialist advisory to IFT departments on how to carry out web projects and how this fits in with overall marketing aims.• Create and curate digital content including writing, digital photography and video.Social media management and strategy• The role will have overall oversight of the IFT charity presence on social media platforms, overseeing the content creation and planning for all IFT social media activities, with the aim of providing coordination across different channels to utilise this medium more extensively within the brand identity of the IFT This role will work closely with the IFT PR advisor to plan and deliver proactive media relations campaigns, and react to emerging news stories when required.• Develop and deliver a PR strategy with the PR advisor, ensuring alignment with the IFT's vision and values.• Curate online events with visual artists and industry leaders.REMUNERATION: £40,000 pro rata.LOCATION: Ideally based at our London office.
