ENG Camera Operator / Video Editor

Westminster

We are looking for ENG Camera Operator/Video Editors.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* RT UK ENG Camera Operators / Video Editors produce required shots by combining the use of complex technology with creative visual skills.
* He or she will be expected to liaise with the UK / International news directors, producers and camera supervisor and must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure to produce live hits and edited packages.
* Responsible for preparing and looking after the camera equipment on location.
* Problem solving and being proactive in achieving objectives with limited resources often under tight deadlines.
* Shoot, light, set up sound and talkback feeds to provide live-u feeds, do location sound and edit.
* He or she will be able to maintain personal effectiveness in the times of pressure, setbacks or when dealing with tough situations.
* The job can be stressful and physically tiring and demanding, often requiring travel between locations and work in different weather conditions.
* Often this is a 1 person operation, also working with our correspondents on location.

SKILLS REQUIRED
* To communicate effectively with the directors, producers
* A full clean driving license as most UK shoots are reached by car.
* Can-do attitude
* In depth knowledge of camera equipment, lighting, sound and talkback facilities
* Able to video edit packages to tell a story in a competent manner
* The ability to frame and compose shots that are commensurate to the programme, The capacity to multi-task and take direction from others
* Tact and diplomacy
* The ability to work under pressure and to tight news deadlines
* Attention to detail, using line-up time fully to ensure that new bulletins go smoothly
* Assembling and setting up equipment, editing video or location or in an edit suite in our Westminster hub
* Responding quickly to new directions as stories evolve and develop
* Liaising with the news organiser to stablish links and test comms
* Using feedback to develop packages and live transmissions, ensuring they fit the given news bulletin
* being prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas;
* working quickly, especially as timing is such an important factor;
* taking sole responsibility in situations where only one camera operator is involved in the filming;
* keeping up to date with filming methods and equipment
* Attend training when required
* Repairing and maintaining equipment
* Demonstrating a good awareness

Locations work can be central London, UK, or Europe depending on editorial requirements.

The shift pattern is Monday to Friday, with varying shifts, and 1 in 4 on call. Subject to future change as the business requirements change.

The job also includes rotation onto other RT entertainment shows, with possibility of worldwide shoots using a variety of camera equipment.

Salary is DOE, 20 days holiday, plus UK bank holidays, a workplace pension and private medical insurance options are available.
