Creative and versatile editor to take responsibility for high quality output for BBC Sport. Essential Skills:• Full technical and operational understanding of Avid Media Composer and Adobe CC Suite• Good knowledge of of Sport broadcast workflows• Familiarity with both Mac OSX and Windows• Good communication skills • Be a good representative for yourself, your chosen career, The Farm and The BBC ...• Being a team player• Helping others with training/advice• Respect and empathy for others with unselfish courteous behaviour• Respect for your working environment, your edit suite and technical kit• Be able to interpret the producers wishes, tailoring and enhancing their ideas within the confines of a realistic timeframe• Able to be flexible with working hours, understanding that some days will be longer, some shorter, this is not a 9-5 career.• Honestly asses their own performance, identifying issues and knowing where or who to find suitable help to improve from.• Ability to work under pressure with good grace, particularly time pressure, when editing to a deadline.• Time management skills, knowing how to pace your day, to critically assess and amend your time plan to ensure making, often immoveable, deadlines.• Good communication skills, it is essential to be understood when offering ideas, or even just letting someone know where to find your edit. • Both oral and written communication, encompassing spelling and grammar.• Organisational skills, ensuring if someone needed to pick up your project, they could do so without an unnecessary struggle to understand the construction of your edit or to find particular rushes.• Self motivation to make good progress with the edit if left alone. • Responsibility for knowing when your bookings are, giving maximum warning if unable to attend through sickness etc.• To be competent and confident in using BBC Sport Production technology. • Have a good understanding of the processes and know who to go to should they need any help.• Be aware of any changes in work-flow/technology keeping up to date with current templates, naming conventions etc. • Have an understanding of the relevant Sport Post Production Work flow Process from ingest to output for the job in hand. This includes exporting output to different formats for all possible routes through to Transmission.• Be aware of any quality control technical review requirements to comply with Ofcom and Worldwide broadcast delivery.• Ensure all output complies with Broadcast technical standards and with BBC Production guidelines.• Have a clear understanding of fundamentals of Digital Television... Video levels, difference between RGB and Rec 709 What Gamut is and how this affects delivery standards Know what Luts are Clear understanding of frame rates, progressive, interlaced. Aware of colour theory and colour temperature/balance and to be able to identify colour issues, grade pictures for both artistic reasons and to rectify technical problems. Understanding how Matts/Keys work including Chroma key A working knowledge of common file/codec types, compression ratios and their influence on picture/sound quality.• Understand Audio .... Audio Levels Compression Equalisiation Stereo /multi track/Mono How recordings are delivered and identify the correct audio tracks An ability to listen to delivered audio and identify common faults and how to repair.• Understand the Edit Client ...
