Editor

Kew, London

Whisper is a leading production company, specialising in high-end sports broadcast production, unscripted entertainment, branded content and factual television. The company has been selected as a five-times Broadcast Best Places to Work (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022) and this is an exciting opportunity to join the team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Editor to work in our talented UEFA department - predominantly on short-form and magazine programming for the Champions League and other UEFA competitions - and across the wider business. The successful candidate's work will be broadcast by global television rightsholders and therefore will be seen all over the world. The candidate should have demonstrable experience at a similar level within the industry and an impressive showreel, as well as a keen interest in high-end sports production and a real passion for football. There will also be the potential for the right candidate to work on longer-form projects such as Official Films and documentary-style programming.

Whisper is proud to be an equal opportunities employer and we actively seek candidates from diverse backgrounds and communities.

Here's a breakdown of what you'll do (not all of it, just the most important stuff):

• Offline and online editing on Adobe Premiere Pro
• Predominantly working on our UEFA football content - editing features, promos, match reviews, openers and closers, as well as longer 'storytelling' edits for our Magazine Shows
• Working, as part of a team, across a wide range of content within the wider business for a number of broadcasters and platforms - from promos, content for live productions, highlights and longer-form content
• Grading and sound mixing to broadcast quality
• Stitching programmes for delivery to broadcasters
• Understanding the technical requirements to meet and uphold QC standards
• Ensuring that the output complies with Whisper's editorial, technical, design and accessibility standards, whilst always working to the company's Health and Safety policy
• Keeping abreast of developments and trends in the Digital space and make suggestions for creative content
• Upholding the reputation of the company by embodying the ethos of Whisper

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Comprehensive knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and demonstrable experience of creating exciting edits
• Ability to use After Effects (Mac-based) would be beneficial
• Passion for creativity and visual storytelling, and ambition to work as part of the team to suggest new ideas and designs
• Demonstrated ability and experience of producing engaging, entertaining, and creative features, football montages and match reviews on similar programming
• Understanding of the technical specifications, creative and editorial requirements for delivering output directly to broadcast and also social media platforms
• Understanding of media management, requesting, and ingesting of content, as well as broadcast delivery specifications and codecs
• Ability to understand a brief from the internal production team and external clients
• Ability to work independently as well as alongside an Edit Producer, and to amend projects started by other editors
• Flexibility of working days and hours to fulfil needs at crucial points of the sporting calendar
• Several years' previous experience in the industry
• Knowledge and enthusiasm for sport, in particular football
• A demonstrable level of creativity with the ability to bring a fresh new approach to creating engaging and evolving output

Working Days:
This role will require a degree of flexibility and weekend working. You will be expected to work with the team to plan a schedule based on production requirements, the UEFA match calendar for the 2022/2023 season and the wider sporting calendar. Lieu days will be given for any days worked over a five-day week. Whisper offer the option of flexitime hours subject to production requirements.
