Documentary Editor

United Kingdom

We have a long-form documentary style film that needs cutting in an incredibly short timeframe, from start to finish.
- The final length will be between 40 - 50 minutes.
- The timeframe is 3 - 4 weeks, to include client review points also.
- The timeframe is such due to client availability for filming and their final deadline.
- Start date 4th January (Familiarisation with existing materials) 9th January with filmed rushes
- Final, final deadline 29th January.

To help the process of post production there is a script that we're shooting to and detailed notes on content. We also have timecode notes on bits of existing archive to use and we will aim to have a rough timeline mapped out for you, so you can see the structure.

The film is an internal comms film for a large corporation that is replacing next year's 3 day conference with something a bit different - i.e this film. The style is "Documentary" but in truth it is being scripted, although some content we are filming will be interviews, with a specific purpose.
The film will be edited together from a combination of news archive, client archive, scripted scenes and interviews.
The end goal is for something that looks high end. The client has consistently used Netflix documentaries as their benchmark. We're not working to the same budget or timeframe as most broadcast documentaries, but we're aiming on having something that looks polished, visually and structurally good quality.

We will need you to work remotely due to the pandemic. We will supply hard-drives with rushes and content.
We are shooting on Arri Alexa and need your home editing kit to be high spec so that you can work quickly without tech delays.

We expect this job to require longer edit days and working across at least one day per weekend between start and delivery, in order to get everything finished.

We are looking for someone who has a strong proven record in editing documentary and working to short timeframes, who is able to work from home confidently.
There will be daily checkins with our producer and there will be a motion graphics team working on segments to drop in.

It's a challenge, but we're being as thorough and as organised as we can to help make this run smoothly.

Really looking forward to hearing from you.
