Matt's Lab is seeking a documentary editor for a privately produced, narration-led historical film about Aleister Crowley's early life.

Episode 1 is approximately 30-37 minutes and is built mainly from archive photographs, documents, maps, newspaper material, artwork and restrained motion rather than interviews or observational coverage. The challenge is to create clear, emotionally intelligent movement from still and archival material while preserving source distinctions and avoiding sensational treatment.

A locked narration structure, timing-reference edit, organised media pool, rights/provenance records and working timeline are available.

Schedule: paid bounded trial as soon as practical; main editing through September and October 2026; current private screening-master target 30 October 2026. Please state your actual availability.

The paid trial is an approximately six-minute sequence: first assembly, one consolidated revision, brief editorial rationale, timecoded missing-material report, completion estimate and relinkable project handback.

Required: documentary or essay-film editing ability; strong judgement with archive/stills/documents; sensitivity to narration and historical ambiguity; reliable remote collaboration; and a self-contained, relinkable DaVinci Resolve 21 handback. Permission is required before any paid assets, cloud processing, generative AI, third-party upload, plugin or template dependency is introduced.

Useful: arts/history/biography, mixed media, restrained motion design, sound/music judgement, or an assistant editor ready to step up.
