Job Title: Fundraising Film Director - Emotive Documentary Focus
Location: London (Hybrid)
Contract Type: Freelance / Project-Based / Part Time
About the Role
Atomized Studios are seeking a skilled and emotionally intelligent Film Director to develop a treatment for a 4-5 minute fundraising documentary ahead of a key stakeholder meeting in late November. The film will explore sensitive and historically significant subject matter, requiring a director with a proven ability to craft thought-provoking narratives and conduct powerful interviews.
The successful candidate will also direct the shoot on location in Poland (early February) and New York (date TBC), working with local crews. They will collaborate closely with an editor throughout February and March, guiding the film through multiple rounds of feedback from stakeholders to ensure the final cut meets emotional, narrative and strategic objectives. Final delivery of the film is expected by end of March.
Responsibilities
Develop a compelling treatment that captures the emotional and thematic core of the project
Collaborate with producers and stakeholders to refine narrative direction
Direct shoots in Poland and New York, working with local crews to ensure high production value
Conduct and direct interviews with key contributors, some of whom may be discussing deeply personal or traumatic experiences
Oversee post-production to ensure the final film meets creative and emotional objectives
About You
Proven experience directing short documentaries or fundraising films with emotional depth
Strong storytelling instincts and editorial judgement
Comfortable working with sensitive subject matter and conducting interviews on difficult topics
Experience directing international shoots and working with local crews
Ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
A valid O-1 Visa is an advantage
Desirable
Experience with Holocaust-related or historical content
Familiarity with Polish and/or US production environments
Multilingual abilities (especially Polish, German, Hebrew, or Yiddish)
Background in journalism or documentary filmmaking
