Digital Production Manager

London

The role: To effectively manage all budgeting, cost managers, raising contracts of Digital Commercial projects to ensure the smooth, safe and efficient running of the production and its delivery on budget and to deadlines.

Key Result Areas:
• A proven track record in production management with a keen editorial eye
• Experience of working in production teams
• Experience working with digital deliveries such as Apps, Short form content
• Forge and maintain key working relationships with the Digital Executive Producer and other Fremantle UK production labels
• Ensure the delivery of quality projects within the budget and time constraints
• Effective liaison and communication with the production, finance, legal and commercial teams
• Effective management of budgetary needs and requirements
• Responsibility for hiring and contracting crew and wider production resources
• Responsible for managing small team and overseeing workload and demands


Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• Constructing workable budgets and schedules that balance editorial vision against budgetary limits, logistical constraints and compliance requirements.
• Working closely with Digital Executive Producer to regularly monitor and feedback any issues relating to the progress of the production(s).
• Working closely with designated Production Accountant to assist monthly cost reporting process.
• Accurate reconciliation of costs and forecasting.
• Establishing relationships with key suppliers e.g. freelancers and ensuring services are delivered as agreed.
• Working with designated lawyer to ensure sound contracting and compliance procedures and documentation are in place. Advising Legal of key production requirements to inform the contracting process.
• Adhering to company and industry policy and procedures and contributing to developments in these areas as required.
• Contracting and negotiating with key talent as required, on and off screen.
• Working with HR to ensure staff contracting, status and performance is managed appropriately.
• Understanding of production risk, building in contingency plans to meet deadlines and delivery requirements.
• Negotiate effective contracts, understanding needs of production and the wider company to reach cost-effective deals.
• Ensure programmes meet copyright, legal, commercial and delivery requirements, including timely delivery of materials to all parties and ensure delivery of post-production paperwork.
• Understanding and raising awareness of any health and safety implications of a production in office and on locations. Work closely on H&S with production team.

Essential Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
Commercial
• Effective planning, negotiation, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
• Good financial skills with the ability to draw up and manage budgets
• Strong financial forecasting and forward production planning on a high volume, fast turnaround production.

Creative
• Understand the creative aims and demands of digital projects and able to visualise and help translate create ideas into practical reality
• Brings creative solutions to complex problems throughout work on projects and development as required
• Proactively acquires knowledge of new technologies and techniques taking leading role in driving production efficiency
• Good understanding of new technology with an interest and experience of producer/editor and digital video workflows.

Collaborative
• Share knowledge and information with team and outside for the benefit of production and the company
• Work harmoniously in a team, whilst understanding the responsibility of authority and need to refer up when appropriate
• Excellent inter-personal, communication and relationship building skills with a friendly and approachable attitude
• Ability to effectively and proactively work as part of a small but busy team in a central role
• Actively demonstrate willingness to work flexibly across range of output
• Open, transparent sharing and communication of all issues, production concerns and schedule delays and potential areas for budget overspend with Digital Commercial Director and Digital Executive Producer
• Available to attend filming out of hours including weekends

• Responds to changing circumstances and is resilient, flexible, and willing to depart from plans when occasion demands
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and to prioritise and identify key production demands accordingly
