Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is the independent charity that cares for six of the most iconic palaces in the world: the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace, and Hillsborough Castle. We preserve these historic sites and share their stories with millions of people, inspiring audiences through creativity, innovation, and world-class experiences.

We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share. To find out more, please visit our strategy page found here Our strategy | Historic Royal Palaces

The Historic Royal Palaces Podcast is a chart-hitting history podcast for people who love British royal history. Every fortnight, our historians and experts unlock the secrets of the monarchs you think you know and reveal the forgotten lives of the people you've never heard of. From dramatic events to intimate human stories, we explore how history shapes us, and how these iconic palaces continue to come alive today.

As a Digital Producer (Podcast), you will support Historic Royal Palaces' ambition to reach and engage a broader audience, both nationally and internationally, with compelling audio storytelling that brings our palaces' histories to life. You will lead the research, development, production, and commissioning of high-quality history podcasts, while managing our publishing schedule across platforms. You will also lead the development of video podcast releases on YouTube, expanding the reach and engagement of our audio content.

You will be a member of the Digital Engagement department within the Public Engagement directorate, working alongside a dynamic and dedicated team of digital professionals. Together, the team produces and manages a wide range of products, projects, and content across multiple digital platforms.

Benefits include:

Hybrid working
Enhanced holiday entitlement
Generous employer pension contributions (up to 11%)
Annual pay reviews and bonuses
Critical illness cover and life assurance
Family-friendly policies and benefits
Staff discounts and entry to all palaces
We are seeking a Producer with at least five years' professional experience in podcast and/or audio production, who can bring strong editorial expertise, production skills, and a passion for history to our high-performing team.

From researching the fascinating history and stories of the palaces and shaping concepts for new podcast series to managing studio and on-location recordings at our historic sites and overseeing our podcast channel, this role offers ample opportunities to apply your expertise and creativity in a vital area of our work.

To succeed in this role, you should be a seasoned Producer with confidence in researching history topics using diverse sources, particularly publications and subject matter experts. Your passion for British history and creative spark will enable you to transform your research into engaging podcast series that captivate our audiences.

Your production skills are particularly important to us, and you will bring the production management expertise needed to oversee the entire process, from research and scripting to recording, editing, and delivery. Experience commissioning production partners to create content is desirable.

A solid understanding of podcast platforms, metadata, and discoverability is essential. As the manager of our publishing schedule, you will devise and co-ordinate a content release plan in collaboration with teams across the charity. Your ability to maximise audience reach and engagement through platform best practices and data-driven insights will be key to this role.

Candidates with additional experience in video podcasting are encouraged to apply.

If you are a collaborative team player who brings creativity and a keen eye for detail, we would love to hear from you.
