Digital Producer

Leeds

Job Title: Digital Producer - The Steph Show
Reports to: Senior Digital Producer
Department: 4Studio
Location: Leeds

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

4Studio is a newly-formed team creating and publishing a wide variety of content for Channel 4's digital and social media platforms. 4Studio's primary activities will be to curate (existing) and create (new) short-form content and distribute it to where our young audiences are, including YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat and other new media platforms - as and when they emerge.

JOB PURPOSE

We're looking for a brilliant digital producer with experience, enthusiasm and fresh ideas in equal measure, to work on a new live show every weekday from Leeds. You'll be embedded in the production team and work alongside the producers, guests and talent to make fast turnaround, high quality content for the show's social media channels.

You'll also work with the Channel 4 social team to amplify and extend the reach of the content to a broad audience. This is a brand new show so it's your chance to shape the strategy of how it appears on digital platforms and how to use those channels to grow reach and share.

The Digital Producer Needs to be a confident self starter with strong knowledge of what works across the content spectrum digitally and on all social media platforms. You should be a content production 'all rounder' with good editorial judgement. Able to create a variety of different content types daily.

This role is based in Leeds at the studio during production and at the Production company and at Channel 4's office at other times. The show is on air at lunchtimes each day.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The live, fast-turnaround production of digital and social assets to support the show and reach a wider audience - you'll ideally have experience producing clips, compilations, memes and anything in-between.
You won't be scared to ask for what you need to get the job done.
You'll be confident in creating a plan, schedule and strategy alongside the 4Studio team.
You'll have 2-3+ years experience of generating ideas for social media preferably using TV shows as a creative base to work from.
Yes it's a cliché, but you're a 'social native' and you know the difference between a hit and a miss. You'll know your TikToks from your Tumblrs, and understand behaviours of audiences online.
We want to be seen as a cutting-edge brand. You must be abreast of developments in the world of social media and what the implications might be for us.
Occasionally, you'll need to make content for distribution by our on-screen talent, since they're often our biggest influencers, so you'll need the ability to remain calm in the presence of your favourite telly person.
You will need to be curious and a voracious consumer of culture. We want to be an innovative and relevant brand, not a dads' disco littered with old, dead memes.
You will be required to manage the (sometimes competing) demands of key stakeholders. Cool under pressure and excellent powers of persuasion are required.
You will need to have a good working relationship with Legal & Compliance. They are there to make sure we stay the right side of the line rather than to clip your wings. Channel 4 was Born Risky.
You won't be responsible for reporting, but you should still be interested in results and be able to find out what's done well and what hasn't - this information should inform your future work.
A preference for candidates to have experience in social listening or reacting to community feedback and using it to inform content development.
You'll be able to articulate and present your ideas to stakeholders and key talent.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Technical & Professional Skills
Must have a good knowledge of all areas of online marketing and content creation.
Able to produce video and graphics/image content using Adobe suite in fast turnaround live studio environment
Excellent attention to detail and grasp of compliance issues.
Important for the job holder to keep up to date with creative and digital / social media trends and have a passion for cutting edge creative and innovation.
Ability to write a great post and engage a community
Must be confident delivering assets to a variety of platform specifications.

Should be confident in making creative decisions
Works on broad variety of matters within the content spectrum
Must be highly organised

Managing Resources

Complexity/Problem Solving
Faces a regular mixture of routine and non-routine problems in the role.
