We're looking for a dynamic Digital Editor to lead and grow 5 News's digital presence, shaping our content strategy across social platforms and beyond. You'll set the vision for a small, integrated team and drive innovation while staying true to 5 News's distinctive tone and original journalism. Your mission: expand our reach, engage younger audiences (for 5 News that's 35-54), and deliver high-quality, distinctive content that reflects the whole of the UK.

Key Responsibilities
Lead & Inspire: Manage and develop a small digital team (2 people), fostering creativity and collaboration
Grow Our Audience: Accelerate digital growth and engagement using data-driven strategies
Shape Content Strategy: Commission and produce original, distinctive content for social and broadcast platforms
Innovate: Explore new formats and platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, and emerging channels)
Ensure Quality & Compliance: Maintain high editorial standards and legal compliance
Collaborate: Work closely with planning team, reporters, and producers to integrate digital into all output
Surprise, innovate: Take risks with new platforms, and consistently challenge the consensus
Set new goals: Growth across all social media expected to include YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, X, Facebook and any other new platform(s)
To manage: Direct line management of 2 online staff in discussion with the Editor
Set the highest standards: Instill quality of writing and video preparation for all producing digital content
Foster innovation: Maximise technology for broadcast, integrating workflows and technology as much as possible while keeping across the changing digital landscape

Key Requirements
Proven experience in digital news production and commissioning
Strong editorial judgement and creative journalism background
Leadership experience with the ability to inspire and manage a team
Deep understanding of social media platforms and audience engagement
Strategic thinker with technical adaptability
Strong understanding of the 5 News audience as well as UK news and current affairs
Calm under pressure, deadline-driven, and legally aware
Good legal understanding and ability to work in accordance with ITN and regulatory compliance procedures
